Wheel tyre combo

Right please bear with me on this one

Im looking to get some 18 inch alloys in 8 inch fitment and ET 42, now I know that this will be fine on my pre facelift cupra, however I want to find a suitable tyre that is
a) Not stretched too much , a little is ok
b) cheap
c) doesnt raise my car up too much so that it looks like its on stilts

So basically I want to keep the height the same of the car and not have stretched tyres and get it for cheap ish

Any ideas/pics would be fantastic

Thanks in advance

At the moment Im on standard Cupra R springs at the front with 10mm lowering caps and the rears are standard LC springs with Cupra R shocks.
Wheels at the moment are pre facelift cupra multispokes , 205/55/16s , 7 inch wide ET 42 ( I think)

Iv just took my 18s off my cupra as it looked a little 4x4ish. But mine is totally standard mechanically. Till next week.....
Il let you know in the morning what tyres are on mine mate. But I'm sure someone will have an answer!

Do you mind if i ask what kind of wheels you took off your car ak and if they are for sale?

I have a set of 17" RS4's but would ideally like a set of 18's of some sort.

Cheers

This is NOT what I want, lol. I think I may have to forgo on the wheels and stick to my 16s, maybe get some wider ones or put some spacers on the rear.
Cheers AK

get some ET35 8" * 18".
then you only need spacer on the rear if you wish.

if you ask me the size 225/40-18 is the right look and also the right size, if you want more stretched you can look for 215/40-18 but they are also smaller in the size its not a real stretch tyre in that size. also have in mind that some tyres look like stretch more then others, why: some tyres have rubber edge that wil protect the rim, if you get tyres with out that protecting rubber edge then they will look more like stretch then those with, just so you know what to look for when you shop tyres.

i can recommend continental and michelin tyres, if you go for conti then avoid the sportcontact 3,, sportcontact 2 is ok and i think the new sport contact 5 is also good.

it will look like a 4x4:
if the car is to high, not lowered, then you get air over the top of the tyre
if the tyre is to small, then you get air over the top of the tyre

205/55-16 is the same size as 215/45-17 and also 225/40-18, if you know what i mean when i say "the same size".

if you have the right size tyre for your car and you think your car looks like its a 4x4, then you have to get it lower, easy done on coilovers. a non lowered leon will always look wird odd, special if its not a cupra-r.

I hear you Allan, however the roads here are rubbish and the car already scrapes on speed bumps on the splitter. I guess ill have to just grin and bear it and get some 20mm spacers for the rear. If I lived in Saudi, then it would be lowered right onto its behind.
