Where is the ECU located?

I went to Vag.com looking to download some software to troubel shoot my 2000 ALhambra, however i need to find the ECU and get the NUmber to determine what software i can use.
Where in the alhambra is the ECU located?

Behind battery in engine compartment

much easier than mine, i had to remove the stupid skuttle an the wiper assembly to get to mine an i still cant remove the wirin?! \any ideas lol

yep old model up behind the dash, new model in behind the battery. i have an old ecu part number 038906019FC if its any use

if you have/can use Vagcom that will tell you the ecu part numbers also when you login to them if it helps
