I would suggest a roof mounted one. The ones that mount on your boot clip around the top of the boot lid; which on the leon is the plastic spoiler held on by 3 bolts....I used to carry 2 bikes on the back on mine until I noticed how much the spoiler deformed as I loaded up! See if you can get hold of some aerobars and a roof carrier

Roof mounted is a good idea. means you can access the boot without any problems!
I had thule aero bars on my 2004 leon with 2 mont blanc barracude bike carriers.
I got them leisureshack.co.uk (can't post links yet!)

Has anybody ventured into tow bar mounted bike carriers?

At present I have a rear mounted halfords one which I used to use on my Escort (ok i used it 3 times lol) but I hadn't thought about the fact the straps go over the top of the spoiler on the Leon. Obviously roof mounted are best (apart from under bridges) so the bikes not sticking out of the edges of the car.

we used to have a towbar mounted one on our discovery - took 4 bikes! big, sturdy, effective, but made the car a lot longer!!

guess it would, i would only carry 2 bikes though. Would maybe be more cost efficient with the Leon having a towbar fitted plus Ive had the other one for 2 years and only used it 3 times and all 3 were to drive 3 miles to my gf's house lol

I use a roof mounted system and have 4 bikes up there. Went to skidrive.co.uk for the racks and put them straight onto the Seat bars.
