i have ebc green stuff on the front of my 110 tdi, they seem to stop much better than standard pads and are more sticky which is awesome
but i think its ds2000s ferrodos i think which people say are good
have a search around mate
If you want a set of carriers, and Mintex pads and discs pm me. this would upgrade you brakes to 312m. covered 3000 miles before i upgraded to 4 pots! £140 + what ever delivery would be.
EBC Greenstuff = Car is too heavy for these, they just are not upto the job if you use them hard
EBC Redstuff = Very hard compound, they tend to score the discs/warp just ask Unclefester. I'd stay clear
Mintex Extremes = They got some nice feedback from these
DS2500s = The dogs bollox
Of course there are Pagid and AP pads you can go for...Pagid RoadFast Pads are good too.
Personally i would stay clear of all EBC pads no matter what the colour. Don`t know what their discs are like though, hopefully a lot better then their pads.
I don't think there's anything wrong with any brand of brakes but it's more dependant on what is more suitable for your car. All manor of factors come into it when choosing brakes. Some discs/pads can't handle heavier cars etc, speed that the car is capable of...
I found that using EBC turbo discs on my old Mk3 Astra weren't up to the job and warped in less than a week after the initial wearing in period whereas Red.Dot discs and Greenstuff pads managed to lock the wheels up at 120mph+!!! The same set up on a friend's Corsa LET made alot of noise and there was very little feel in the brakes and it was very hard to judge how much brake pedal presure to apply as the (comparatively) small weight of the Corsa just couldn't get enough heat in the brakes.
The best option is to listen to the tried and tested opinions of the other members on here. Agreed, it might not be as cheap as you had hoped but someone else has gone through the trouble of finding out what works and what doesn't.
Hi, so as standard do the 150's come with the smaller disks and you can upgarde to the 312mm disks? i need some new ones and lucky for me your allready talking about it, iv found the turbo groved disks but thers to options for my car, ones smaller than the otehr and the model varient both say 150 but year of manufacture is 2003 - 2005 and 2002 - 2005...mines an o4 so iv no idea :s also thers two differnt pads i may need as well, one has wing like thangs on the side and the other doesnt, again, i have no idea which without takin me brakes apart...any help? cheers, dave
when upgrading your brakes is it best to up grade front and back, or by up grading just the front, be ok!! i don't really drive my car that hard no more just the odd blast!! mostly motorway.
