Found these two. Now i cant see a difference that would be 115pounds between the two
The cheapest ive found the FK coilovers for is 410 pounds delivered to my door, and the cheapest ive found the JAMEX ones for is 295 pounds to the door

Here are the two in question

FK Coilovers (410pounds delivered)

Jamex Coilovers (295pounds delivered)

Whats the difference?
Its not a smart question or anything i would genuinely like to know the differences? Ive emailed 2modified for an answer to whats the difference between the higher priced and the lower priced coilovers, but never got a reply.

I know the FKs are what people recommend but why when there are others for cheaper.

Thanks for reading, and please dont reply just 'cos theyre better'
I would be interested to know how :D

Thanksyou ..........................

Buy cheap, Buy twice

Ive got FK's but gven the option of buying any make of coilovers I wouldent buy FK's again.

FK's would logically be better quality but that would be buying a SSangYong over an FSO in comparison

Telford ay it...
Im pleased with my FK's, springs could do with being alot stiffer but maybe they didnt antisipate them being wound down so much

Plus i would get the silverlines, mine undo well easy :)

might aswell go for the cheaper ones if lowness is what you want.

If you want a nice stiff ride then I would avoid the coilovers all together.

what coilovers have you got on yours? and how would you rate them?

And also whats the life i should be expecting from these coilovers, and how will the lesser quality ones differ from say the fk range?

The JAMEX ones comewith a 2 year warrenty from the manufacturer.

Thanks again

I have the FK highsports.

They were very soft when my car was slammed so raised it up because I wasn't happy. But now they are firm but fair. Compared to a set of Bilstein uprated and stiffened shocks and lowering springs which I had on my last one. They were a very very very firm ride especially when you forgot about a bump.

So I like what I have. Trouble with suspension is you can't exactly go into a shop and try them on then put them back. Best way is to go in other peoples cars and feel what set ups they have. Would be handy at local meets and such like if they ever go ahead.

i have FK's on mines too.
too bloody soft i still get a decent amount of chassis flex, but that might be because i have lowered a considerable amount. i wouldnt get coilovers again unless at a decent price.

once i got them, they got lowered and never been touched since, so very pointless.

AND MY LAST QUESTION :D ........MAYBE

How long have you guys all had coilovers for and do they deteriorate over time? and if so how?
I suppose the good thing about them is that you can set the height to exactly what you want as opposed to being limited to 40,60mm drops.

Its looking like im going the cheaper route, since everyone mentioning the FKs has said that they are too soft, and since ill have a fibreglass front bumper soon, i dont want it hitting the floor! :D

Cheers

I keep playing with mine, find ways to get it lower etc. Dropping the back a tad more over the weekend.

Personally i think coilovers are what you need, having a low front bumper you will be abe to tweek them so you dont catch it etc.

I have had mine since last July i think, no problems as of yet :)

shouldnt expect them to fail.

Plus the joys of coilovers if I ever decide to change my ride height I can do. Plus if I was to change my kit or wheels I can adjust to suit rather then having to wonder whether my suspension will effect my wheel selection. Coilovers give you more upward in the arch clearance as there is no cup for the wheel to catch on like on uprated suspension.

good point, 2 year warrenty i would have with the cheaper jamex kit

Since everyone is saying fks are very soft i think im going with the jamex kit. Its cheaper and their description of the setup seems better, even if it actually isnt.

They come with a 2 year warrenty, and im contacting JAMEX now to see if they sell the kits directly, to see if i can get them a bit cheaper :D although i dont think ill get a much better deal than 295 delivered.

If anything should go wrong there is always the option to send them back i suppose :) which is worth remembering

I'm gonna be different here and say I dont find my FK's soft.... feel basically every bump on the roads around here and its fun to see a girls boobs bounce up and down to :)

And combined with 15mm spacers and a strut brace the handling on corners is very good.

im contacting jamex at the mo, if i can get them even cheaper then itll definitely be the jamex ones, as even after 2 years if they break i could buy another set for the price of one set of fks

:D

Been a very useful thread cheers guys

EDIT: love to see the boobs too ;)
