Whining from the engine

Went and test drove and purchased a 56 plate pd170 today, the car is not standard even though the garage tried to tell me it was. Thing goes like sh*t off a shuvel and has a really loud whining coming from the engine when it reaches 1500rpm. Does anyone know what the could be?

Could possibly be the turbo mate (bearing shot or a boost leak), or tensioners/pulleys. Sounds like you need to stay away unless it gets fixed.
