This has happened 4 times now. Basically i can drive the car with no issues other than boost surge. on the occasions that this has happened i have driven roughly 20 miles and been stopped at a red light or junction and plumes of white smoke comes out the exhaust. I turn off the car drive off then it goes away. I have read this could be the Turbo, lamda , head gasket etc etc. I have seen no change in coolant level, turbo seems fine to me, the car was over filled during an oil change by a garage could it be this is just burning off?

Cheers , Luke.

I have read through some sites and forums and what i am seeing seems to point to the oil.i gave the garage mobil 1 and he just filled it up with everything. MUPPET. going to drain and refill then see what happens. however if yours is filled correctly it shouldnt be that should it?

I get the same issue from my LCR, figured it was just condensation in the exhaust turning to steam? Would have thought if it was oil it would have a bluey colour to it?

Does it smell like oil?
Mines been doing this for a bit now,and is the turbo seals in the hot side, looks like white smoke but is burning oil.
Only does it when standing still for bit, doesnt smoke any other time.
Waiting for it to get worse then going hybrid route.

My cupra just started doing this aswel. I put some magnatec in and it started to do it. Got oil changed back to what it was on before, and it pretty much went, but it done it again the other day. Not much smell, just plumes of white smoke

Mine is doing this aswell and mine has castrol edge in it too. But it will only do it occasionally I drove for about 20 mins last night then left the car ticking over and nothing. Mine smells a bit like petrol might just be me imagining that though.

Just to let you know, I changed my oil filter and oil and sensor and the smoke is now gone, the car had too much oil in it so think it was burning it off.

The sensor is a combined level/temperature sensor and simply lights up the yellow LED if the oil is either too hot or too low. (taken from a post bu muttley) I would rather have it working instead of checking oil before and after every trip. If you were driving and loosing oil you wouldnt notice untill engine went kaput!

Oh right didn't realise it done both. Nice one glad you got yours sorted.
