I know this subject has been done to death however, for the hardcore that still crave it & want proof it doesnt work there is this write up I found.

I know a similar write up is on SCN already but, for those that still doubt I have attached a link as well which shows its not just SCN members that say this.

Whooshy noise.

"This unique sound sometimes comes at a price. On a car with a mass airflow sensor(MAF), doing this confuses the Engine control unit (ECU) of the car. The ECU is told it has a specific amount of air in the intake system, and injects fuel accordingly. The amount of air released by the blowoff valve is not taken into consideration and the engine runs rich for a period of time.*

Typically this isn't a major issue, but sometimes it can lead to hesitation or stalling of the engine when the throttle is closed. This situation worsens with higher boost pressures. Eventually this can foul spark plugs and destroy the catalytic converter (when running rich, not all the fuel is burned which can heat up on and melt the converter).

Note that engines using a MAP (manifold absolute pressure) system are not affected. "

what makes matters worse is some of the 1.8t has both a MAF and MAP sensor

The issue has never been that a Blow off Valve doesn't work on a 1.8T, it does work but it's just the short and long term affects for the engine running rich then possibly lean and also maybe racking up fault codes......so although the BoV sounds great the car may well be going slower as a result and cause long term engine issues.

The fact is the engine wasn't designed to run with a BoV and it's a lottery as to whether you car gets problems or not.

Ok, whilst were on this topic has anyone ever tried or know about the Bailey DV26?

A twin piston dv designed for cars with an airflow meter?

I had one on my LCR probably 2+ years ago

- It cost £15 more than a Forge 007
- It lasted 20k miles and can;t be serviced so I had to throw it away
- It was mainly plastic too which was a shock

But I know another forum member who had one for 50k+ miles and his was fine

EDIT - SORRY I had the DV30 not the DV26

Is it an atmos or re-circ? I know the DV30 is a re-circ but the DV26 says twin piston valve. Apparently is designed so your car doesnt run rich?

i dont know why you dont all just stick to recircs, i also think a atmos dv sounds the danglies, but its not designed for this car, simple as, not worth the hasstle imo

you want whooshy? buy a scooby

Or you could go with an aftermarket ECU and ditch the MAF too:shrug: depends what you are doing to your car I suppose?

(You do loose some of the standard ECU's safety features though)

Nope, I just want to know if anybody has tried this valve? I only know of 2 valves that work on the car OO7 Forge & Bailey DV 30.

I was intrigued by the DV26 as its described as an atmos but yet says specifically designed for cars that run on MAF.

If its boasting that then i just wanted to see if anyone used one & if so any success?

I ran a DV26 for about a 1000 miles before my car developed problems, not boosting properly, rough idling etc. No matter what type of atmospheric DV you try it won't work properly, it's been discussed a million times.

If you changed the ECU then yes it will work, many cars that have 1.8T transplants run atmos DVs and BOVs no problem as they have different management, but there's no point in getting rid of a perfectly good well developed ECU just so you can have a DV... lol

basically the moral is, stick to a recirc valve, theirs plenty out their, forge 007p, bailey dv30, hyperboost HX to name a few

atmos DV's do not work

when i first got my car and was fitting the forge 007p me and my mate intentionally left the re-circ pipe disconneted, just for the comedy value, gave it one blip of the throttle when the car was stationary and it let out a huge gay whooosh, then just stalled.

Ok cool, clears the problem up.

I was just intrigued as the DV26 claimed that altho it works as an atmos, it ensures the car runs perfectly & stops it from running rich as this was specifcally designed to work like a re-circ.

I did do a search but couldnt find anything about the dv26, only dv36 which is a different valve altogether.

As this valve claimed to operate just like a re-circ but with an atmos effect I thought I would ask.

So bottom line is, Load of shite, dont belive what you read!
