Would like to hear your thoughts on how they are, What kit are you running and
does it drive/sound any different from the Dual Mass,,,

I would like to get my clutch ordered this week so please reply with your experience.

If you search Awsome GTI SMF you'll find a mammoth thread that's mostly full of crap. But there is also a lot of feed back on it.

Iv got a Sachs smf and clutch plate only been on for a week and half! All seems good pick ups a lot sharper as the smf is lighter than the dmf in mine

Yeah there is bit that one person who was saying all the negative things was just a knob to be fair yeah there is a few things to be curious about like the strain on the box but that's something you take into consideration

No idea all I know is that its a Sachs original kit that my local garage supplied ! He did his research and spoke to his own clutch guru! I was having the awesome kit fitted but due to weather conditions and the clutch failing I ended up goin down the Sachs route! The awesome kit is meant to be good and I think the flywheel is the same weight as the dmf where as mine is lighter I think

I am also interested in this as I will be replacing mine. As the fly wheel is rattling its nuts off. And am considering the awesome kit as there aren't many other options. I see a kit on jabba sport but that was £909

Try helix clutches, I have one in my Leon Cupra with a single mass flywheel fitted. The chatter is the main difference you'll notice compared to dual mass but it takes the power I'll be throwing at it with my GT28 once its mapped and it does feel like it pulls better with it hard to explain really.

The new clutch kit arrived today, Looks pretty good.
It seems really heavy compared to other modual units Ive fitted to 1.8t's.

I have the day off Friday so I will fit it then, will let you know how it goes.

Helix are awesome clutches

My mate ran a spec stage 3+ on his lcr

Chatter was minimal! Nowhere near like it is on a derv

Well I spent today fitting the conversion,
I can now confirm its on my 'NEVER TO DO AGAIN' list.

Working on the floor is now joke, I've done a few Golf 1.8t Clutches in the past and they have been a doddle!
They were all 5 speeds though, The extra size and weight of the 6 speed is really noticeable.

The box is in and all bolted up but I ran out of time due to waiting for some help lifting the box back in.

Need to bolt up the drive shafts and tighten the anti-rollbar then bleed the system,
Hopefully there won't be any dramas with that and it will be back on the road tomorrow.

I will never do another one of these on the floor.
