Why so many Cupra's being broken?

Im slowly learning about the 20vt Cupra having just brought one, im just on ebay thinking i got an absolute bargain as the comparable car is over £2k, but i keep seeing alot of LC's and LCR's that look mint being sold for spares?

Why on earth would you not repair them? is it because they are worth so much in bits rather than whole? i had the same dilemma with my old anniversary mk3 golfs.

Said it yourself, they are worth more in parts. Plenty of enthusiasts like ourselves with a high demand for LC and LCR parts to upgrade their cars with. The 1.8T engine in all forms is popular for dropping into older Golfs for instance which keeps their value high.

Got to remember, its nearly 2014, the last Mk1 Leons were 2005 (perhaps a few in 06?) so the majority of them are now pushing 10 years old.

Also nowadays when most people are feeling the pinch, they aren't the cheapest cars to run, 30mpg, £280/yr on tax, and insurance on top of that.

It is a shame though when you get one in good condition getting broken though, long term though it should keep the prices up for people with clean ones as there will be less of them.

Always makes me sad to see mint LCR's getting broken, even rough ones can be brought back from the brink, just a real shame :(

I know of X3 mint LCR's broken for spares recently, which would have never thought it would have happened to. :(

I've noticed a lot of breakers etc on ebay as well. As said above it will make the cars more sought after, maybe its just because I own an LCR but I can see a demand for them in future..

I love breaking them, saves tyre kickers and timewasters for one. Nothing worse than some numpty coming round with 10 of his mates to ask stupid questions and make you a stupid offer.

I live in South Devon
I can see why somebody would break a car rather than sell it, I have just bought a Y reg Cupra with near 12 months mot, remapped ( 207 brake ) with 4 brand new coil packs a good I pod control head unit, and other goodies, ok high miles 146k but the car runs perfect, drives superb, body is good interior minty, how much £666.46p still cant believe what I bought for the money, I love it

Cheers Chris
