Why would clutch pedal intermittently stick to the floor?

Ever since I have had the transmission work done on my car, I sometimes find the clutch pedal sticking to the floor, and I have to ping it back up with my foot.

I have bled the clutch twice, and it stays good for a wee while, then I find that when I am slowing down, and depress the clutch, that clutch bite and feel is sometimes reduced and other times, it sticks to the floor. It does not seem to do it the same when going up through the gears.

The slave clutch cylinder was renewed when the gearbox was out. When we bled the clutch, some black stuff appeared in the fluid that came out.

I am wondering if the master cylinder is beginning to fail?

Any ideas or suggestions? Its pretty frustrating

No personal experience with this on VAG cars, but on other marques it usually means a clutch master cylinder. Sometimes bleeding them by pushing the pedal to the floor is enough to damage it. Try bleeding the new one by letting the fluid run through first, close the bleed nipple, pump the pedal, open it again and repeat till you have a pedal.

I had this on a MK3 Ibiza Cupra. It was a faulty pedal return spring.

Or thinking about it, it could be that the pivot bolt is too tight, I've had that on a car before too.

Yep, I also had this in my old Ibiza Cupra.. Was an issue with the Pedal Assembly.

When you press in the clutch, a plastic node pushes against a plate and forces it down. This plate was only tac welded in 3 spots. After a certain length of time these tacs then fail.
When i got my new assembly, got the garage to weld all the way around the plate

But dont know if same assembly is on the Mk2 Leon
