Why would the speedo stop working at 60mph?

As you may have noticed Margarets Ibiza has had a few speedo problems today.

The weird thing is that it works fine until it gets to 60 MPH, bang on 60 MPH at that, and then it just dies completely and the power steering light comes up on the dashboard.

I don't notice the power steering disappearing either, which is a bit weird.

A scan using the U281 code reader has brought up a code which is "Transmission Control Module Relay - Supply Voltage (B+) Malfunction Low Battery or Bad Ground" (Weird is that it came up under the SRS function and also that it isn't an automatic, which I assume this relay is actually for!)

Can anyone shed some light on what this is as I'm away to do some research and try to get to the bottom of it.

Back laters,

BIll

auto or manual and what engine.
i would say a wheel sensor as our cars have speed sensitive steering

I think you are definitely in the right place Spud, right ABS sensor is getting replaced as it's thrown up a code already and I've got one being delivered. However the left hand one is also showing a code now so if both of them fail I imagine thats going to screw up a few systems which are speed dependent.

It's a manual 1.4 Sport by the way, petrol.

Cheers and thanks,

Bill
