Windscreen change

As the title suggests an earlier crack has spread and im going to have to get the screen changed, pain in the but such is life. what im wondering is when the garage changed it will i have to tell them to put the wipers in the service position to avoid scratching the bonnet? or does the screen simply slide out/insert underneath without the need the pull the wipers out

would think you will have to put wipers up. just tell them when you take it in. cant do any harm

When mine got changed I mentioned to the guy not to pull them straight up and he said ''Yeah i know, most cars come with them like that now, audis, bmws''

Which suprised me. So mine was ok, but it wont be able to slide out as they have to take the black side bits off which are along the windscreen too.

This might be a silly question, but I've a crack at the bottom of my windscreen, so far is hasn't spread, but it's gonna need changed at some point. If I got it done through my insurance will they just stick in any old window or will it say SEAT on it like the rest?

Probably makes me sound like I've got OCD but I'd really like to keep all the windows genuine, plus I don't want any hassle with the rain sensor and stuff. Does this mean I'd have to go to a dealer to get it done?

Its doesn't say SEAT on them unfortunetly, I too wanted it to say it but it doesn't.

So i'm guessing it would be a dealer job if you really wanted it to say that.

I had my windscreen changed by Autoglass a few weeks back. I mentioned the wipers to the chap and he looked at me like I was a dumba$$. He explained that they lift the bonnet and feed the old and new windscreens through the gap at the back. I have no idea how or why but mine was changed with no problems.

i work for autoglass we do take the wipers off before we remove the screen so dont worry too much about the wipers as we need to remove the scuttle ect before we can remove the screen from the appiture

How does it even get through with one guy doing it like that, does that not make it more complicated than using those sucker things?

I was going to say they usually remove the wipers. They've done it for the last few windscreens I've had on various cars. Although last time they didn't tighten the wipers on properly, and I was left with a limp drivers side wipers in torrential rain!! I wasn't happy at all...

Winscreen insurance excess

Any ideas whats going on with the insurance thing.. Just changed from a Ibiza 2.0 Tdi FR to a Cupra 1.4 Tsi Dsg. And my insurance excess on windscreen has changed from just £75 to £125.. Is the windscreen any different on the Cupra ???

Have you gone to another insurer or underwriter? Different insurers sometimes have different excesses, but I've not heard of the excess being based on the car.
