Hi All,

For some strange reason, the FR Black doesn't have the option to add the Xenon headlights! So my question is, what's stopping me from buying them from the dealer and replacing the existing lights?

Thanks.

There are a few options that are missing from the Black, to be honest I wouldn't have thought there would be anything stopping you from buying and replacing.

I thought it was just the Xenons that weren't an option... Which I really wanted, but I also wanted the seats, rims, mirrors and grills. ;)

I've done a little research and people are saying that you can't do it because the black edition bumpers don't have the washers... But surely I don't need headlight washers to have Xenons...

For an MOT you will need washers otherwise it's a fail, I fancied fitting Hids but didn't want to have to remove them for every MOT

Wow! I've just checked the MOT rules and you're right! What a ridiculous rule!

I thought it was all hids need washers, checked the rules for the Irish mot and it says it needs washers, stabilizers and below a certain kelvin rating

The bumper isn't the issue so much as the recesses for the headlight washers. As well as this you would need the cog sensors for the auto levelling function. You would also be buying the xenon headlight unit as a part rather than an upgrade so it would be much more expensive.

I'm not sure why the FR blacks don't have them as optional and considering it's suppose to be a special edition, you would of thought they would be standard.

I might just get some nice bulbs instead. :p

Ok so I've done some digging around and the key is in how the rule is worded. Spoiler alert: You don't need washers!

"Vehicles equipped with High Intensity Discharge (HID) or LED dipped beam headlamps may be fitted with headlamp washers and a suspension or headlamp self levelling system.

Where such systems are fitted, they must work; however, it is accepted that it may not be possible to readily determine the functioning of self levelling systems. In such cases, the benefit of the doubt must be given"
