Bocanegra in Candy White

Hi everyone

Having sold my Bocanegra I have collected last week a 61 plate FR plus Tdi , I am rather disappointed with the dipped range of the xenon headlights (main beam is fine in fact is very good its like daylight ) the dipped range just seems very low I know these cannot be changed as they respond to the load on the rear axel. The AFR works fine and I can see the beam move up and down slightly when they are switched on

Does anyone else have this issue and is it common ?

Thanks
Chris

Could take it back to the dealer and ask them to raise them a little.

I swapped from a bocanegra to an fr+ tdi in June and I've felt the xenons are much brighter than they were in the boc!

I had exactly the same issue with my xenons too. I have adjusted mine, I just used an Allen key to turn them up 1.5 turns.

I parked the Leon and my Astra perfectly level with each other about 20 feet away from a brick wall. The beam cut off on the Leon was a few inches lower. I adjusted them up by 1.5 turns each side so that they were the same height on the wall as my Astra. No VCDS needed because when I switched the ignition off-on they went to the new position every time.

BTW it's the adjuster nearest the wing for the up-down.

I've got the wife to follow behind me in the Leon at night and they don't dazzle. I've got her to drive towards me at night and they still don't dazzle. She gave me some full beam and my god they are bright.

Nath they will eventually adjust back to stock if you have self leveling headlamps.

You need to set alignment mode in VCDS and then turn with allen key , then confirm new alignment.

I adjusted mine manually when I got the car 2 years and 20k miles ago. They have not changed since then.

Thanks guys,

Can anyone take a photo showing where the adjuster is

Or is it the white one on the to of the light unit ??

Cheers
Chris

You will need VCDS to adjust them , they need to learn their new position.

If you adjust them manually by just using the adjuster screw 2 things will happen , the virbration and hitting pot holes will move the position out and you will have to adjust them again , if this happens you will loose the travell needed for VCDS to be able to learn the position for the future.

So adjust them in using the screw but use VCDS to learn the new setting.
takes less than 30 seconds using VCDS.
