I have a 1.2tsi, mostly 10mile round trip to work, of town and dual carriage way driving at enthusiastic speeds. Have averaged between 36-39 mpg between fill ups. Cars done 1600 miles so about 4 full tanks.

Best I've achieved (according to trip computer) was 52.6 iirc on a 30 motorway run

What I'm trying to do is get peoples real mpg not the computer one.

If ya can tell me your miles you got to how much it cost you to refill an how much the cost were per ltr.

Last two tanks of fuel.

502 miles, 39.14 Litres of fuel = 58.5mpg. Computer said 59.1mpg
504 miles, 39.77 Litres of fuel = 57.6mpg. Computer said 58.5mpg

Both those tanks of fuel have been used mostly for urban driving, so pretty good. Plus the fuel computer is proving pretty accurate.
Probably doing some motorway driving in the next week so we will see what that yields.

Below is the result of a 30 mile country drive.....

What model is that, I'm guessing it must be a TDI to achieve those figures!

Its good the MPG reported by the computer is accurate :)

I have a 1.2TSi SE...

...and it's shocking!

My wife and I have just been doing a test for Seat and I did a 300 mile self imposed 'eco trip' journey, mainly dual carriageways and 60mph A roads and I only managed 41mpg. In normal conditions (being a small amount of town driving and a lot of dual carriageway/motorway driving) we get around 36-38.5mpg.:censored:

Just had a phone call from Seat this morning to say that they think they've fixed the problem with a software update so I'm waiting with a large amount of hope and a generous sprinkling of scepticism!

I get better figures from my 16yo Cappuccino!

IT-Monkey - I'm getting very similar figures for my 1 month old (2000 miles) 1.2TSi.

My most recent 'real' ie brim to brim figures are: 38.1, 43.2, 39.2, 40.1mpg over a total distance of about 1300 miles.

I'd be extremely interested to hear if the software update a) improves things without b) clobbering the performance!

I suspect that the update will have either told the trip computer to lie about the consumption in the hope that I'll never check at the pump, or it will have clobbered the performance - which will really, REALLY irritate me as it's slow enough as it is.

I don't 'rag' my cars but it's nice to pull out at a roundabout and not suddenly think ":censored:, I'm not in the Cappuccino, that car's going to T-Bone me!" as the car begins to pull away and then has an inexplicable loss of power for about half a second :wtf:

Interesting, is yours a DSG gearbox? Mine is and I assumed that the ahem, delay, at roundabouts was either the DSG or turbo-lag. If yours is a manual transmission with lag, that crosses the DSG box off the list.

TBH I always assumed that the manufacturers figures were a pack of lies and getting 90% of their claimed consumption was probably good going!

Mine's a manual, but I'm not convinced it's turbo lag either, because a) the effect is far worse in first gear and b) the power seems to be there and then drop out completely.

It seems to me that the delay is time based rather than rev based, making me think that it's a delay in the computer telling the injectors that your foot is practically pushing a hole in the underpan and the view of your face to the bus driver looking through your off side front window is one of horror, dread and panic.
