i know i dont get good mpg but i was only expecting to get 50mpg due to me driving short trips and always been 3 up with a pram etc plus it is the heavier 5 door etc.

im making my own excuses for poor mpg now lol

Took my 1.6 tdi on a 600 mile round trip today. I have done this journey many times and seen over 70mpg in the past. The intention today was to go for it and do a 600 mile economy run. I set off at four this morning and started with good intention, unfortunately at that time of the morning the roads were so empty out of boredom I ended up wellying it to get their a bit quicker.
So I thought, no problem I will do a 300 mile economy run on the home journey. Unfortunately that didn't work out either. The reason for the trip was to pick my son up from London, he lives about four miles from Wembly. I picked a good day to be in the vicinity of Wembly stadium....lol. I was so frustrated by the time I got off the North Circular and onto the M1, the foot just went down again and I forgot to lift it off! I would normally do the journey on one tank of fuel but today I got the warning lamp on at about 520 miles and stopped to fill up soon after.
So to the figures, after 534 miles I put 40.43 litres in to fill the tank. I work that out to be 60.1mpg, the computer got it to be 59.1 mpg.
Not quite the result I was after but considering the way the car was driven, I still think it is an impressive result.

Well, as you an see form my signature, my average MPG has now got to a more indicative value.
Still piss poor considering yesterday on a 70mph cruise controlled run m1-a64 with favourable traffic it averaged 45mpg (on board computer)

If i get a chance i'll video a drive back from work as it might be my driving style at fault, if not it's another tick off the list of possibilities.

this is what i usually see on my 17mile commute to work give or take a few mpg

I've now done about 800 miles in the 1.2 TSI 5-door SE so can report:-

First tank - 26 to 364 miles 36.05 litres, 7.93 galls - 42.6 mpg
Second tank - 364 to 794 miles 41.2 litres, 9.06 galls - 47.5 mpg

Overall, 768 miles, 16.99 galls - 45.2 mpg

All trips of less than 15 miles except for two of about 100 miles each on the second tank.

Cupra 1.4 TSI...

Daily commute - 17 miles, plus another 3 inner-city. To city outskirts, I get around 43 mpg which dips to about 38 mpg by the time I get through all the traffic lights to the car park.

If I am giving it a bit of welly, I still get about 34mpg which is still reasonable given the performance.

Leeds to Birmingham return - 46.6mpg by the computer, 46mpg by the fill up. Happy with that for a 1.4TSI FR. :)

I've got a 1.2tsi leon when my car goes in for a service.
I know it's a bigger car, but it should be a fair(ish) comparison of mpg between that and mine I reckon over the same route to and from work. (if anything the 1.2tsi will be disadvantaged by having to lug a bigger load around)

Best I got so far was 39.9 mpg on a 1.2 tsi, but the car is one week old and I was driving 40kmh for some 15 minutes.

altinnovation - the figures on my 1.2TSi improved over the first 300 to 500 miles. Since then I get high 30's to low 40's, which is OK for the short distance stop-start communting I do every day.

Mine is in my signature, currently at 46.5mpg I think.

During my 25 mile trip to and from work I've had it as high as 66mpg, however the Ibiza reports my average around 58mpg.

Does anyone know how long the Ibiza stores the average mpg for?

19hours 59minutes of driving time (iirc), or 999miles, or you reset using the button. (trip2)
or all of the above or the engine has been off for 3 hours (trip1)

so i filled mine up last night, got 420 miles out of the last tank of petrol which is pretty good. got average of 46mpg

however something puzzled me. last time, i filled up at Shell, petrol light wasnt on, had at least the 4 little bars of fuel, maybes even one of the big ones, and the petrol pump never clicked so it wasnt full and i stopped it dead on 60quid (wasnt paying any more!). this time i filled up at Morrisons, petrol light was on, had 2 of the little bars of fuel left (trip computer said 20miles), and petrol pumped clicked. at Shell, the car took 44.84 litres of fuel, at Morrisons it only managed 41.41litres, even though it had less in and it got filled more?!
