hi here i go.. THIS WILL BE A BIG READ SORRY :)

i own a cupra 180bhp.....and the other day i thought to myself lets get it remapped..so there i was looking on the net for some remaps specialist...and come across evo chips..so i email them and they got back to me saying they would do it no probley should take around 30mins...so i thought great..

i got it remapped it it felt ok a bit better power low down...and over the weekend i notice the car was very up and down in power it felt like it would give u all the power and then not..and then give you power again..so i took it to surreyrolling road...and the dyno read 185.1BHP....which he said was very poor....could be down to a poor remap?

then he sent me to amd surrey they looked at it and said it couls be one of four things.

1..faulty n75
2.faulty D.V
3.air leak
4. poor remap

so do you think 1 and 2 would give me such a big lose in power

Sounds like could be the map and may even be jumping into limp mode by the sound of it, Have you checked for what codes are popping up?

yeh at amd they checked the codes but there was no signs of any problems?...if you had a faulty n75 would that make a big diffrance?

I don't mean to be rude or patronising but this gets said time and time again...use a mapper from THIS forum that has been tried and tested many many times, they know what they're doing and is the reason why we all give good feedback. You have many site sponsors to choose from with certified retailers all over the UK!

If you can't find faults with the said parts, then this is very likely to be your map. Personally I would get a refund and have the OE map reflashed to your ECU, go to a reputable tuner and have a new map put on, then if you still get these problems at least you know that the map is safe. It seems that any monkey can claim to do a remap these days.

I would agree if no codes are showing up and its only occured after the map it sounds like a bad map, Trouble is there are so many maps on the market and they are all written differently with different values,

I would give them a bell see if you can get a refund and go with a sponsor on this site, that way you know its a more efficient map and also safer delevering the performance...

As above - But I'll add, I would have had it RR'd before getting the map. At least that way you can identify any potential problems before Remap.

yeh i fully understand what your saying.. i always use to stick by the saying 'you get what you payed for'.....ive got my money back now and the car back to it normal self...im going for a rolling road today just to see if there is anymore problems...and then im booking it in to AMD TECHLINK for a remap they do it all the right way..

Good news :).

That's AMD Technik by the way and yes, they are good, I have used them a lot ;)

agree with most of the comments on here saying , mapper shud read codes b4 hand but if u remappin a u have to read the codes, i had similar problems with my 2nd cupra 1.8t remapped by r tech (very well known), first run (standard map) showed 183bhp and after map showed 187bhp showed no faults n suffered the exact same symptons power all cum at once like a diesel n boost tailed off at 4500 rpm taught it was a bad map turned out to cracked turbo n small boost leak but r tech did sort it out in the end.

best ting i can advice is fone the mapper n explain ya problem if he cant sort it get ya money bk n put it bk to standard n get it dn by some1 else like , morebhp.com , r tech, amd , revo
