Found this on the auto trader. 2007 5500 miles 8k

http://search.autotrader.co.uk/es-u...=SEAT&model=LEON&min_pr=&max_pr=&max_mileage=

Phoned, in manchester, which doesnt match the search postcode.
Reversed into a lamp post. Mostly rear quarter panel damage, bumper and tail light.

1. Why not claim insurance?
2. Fix and sell for 14k/keep yourself
3. Sell for 10k and let the new owner fix for 2k

Selling due to cant be bothered with the hassle and needs the cash for property deposit. (told my brother the same stories).

Advice please:confused:

It sounds like an absolute bargain, however if it sounds too good to be true it probably is....

Chris

God I sound like an old G1t!! :D

actually i saw one on ebay not long ago and the price is roughly the same price ... the one on ebay is recorded (register on cat c or d) maybe the one u lookin at also be recorded thats why is that price ...

Not recorderd, hpi clear. Did a dvla check to and all matches his story. Was pre reg and 1 owner.

Got to admit if I was in the market for a car - Id be taking a look, shame your so far away though...

I believe things take a while to appear on the HPI register - although even if it is its still very cheap...

You taking the day off tomorrow :D

Tempted but keep being told about crime rates in manchester etc..
Sorry manchester epople, no offence.
Also, not in the habit of buying cars that need work!
But since swapping my mk1 leon for an astra 1.9 150 xp, been dissappointed to say the least.

yeah i agree it can takes awhile to show up on hpi record .....

that wouldn't show on HPI though, it's not an insurance write off

I guess that if the guy has no cash, he can't afford the excess. OR has it insured 3rd party only (crazy)

it's no hassle if you can afford the excess, but if you're strapped then you're stuffed

dont need to be an insurance write off to be on HPI ..... can be recorded on cat c or d .......

CatC&D are insurance write off...
accident damaged & repaired cars will not show on HPI unless the insurance company has declared a total loss.

in which case it'll also show on the V5C that the VIC check was carried out

Well found...

Very fishy...

Maybe stolen and false ID given so a clean car comes up when everyone does the HPI??

Chris

I went to view this car yesterday with a mate of mine who was interested..
We did a RAC HPI check and it came back clean...

However the guy advertising the car said that he was part of an insurance group which sold damaged cars..

The rear windows had been sprayed with a spray can for some weird reason..

It had a richard alexandar huddersfield sticker on the rear screen..after a few checks i found that the car was not even known to them..

As soon as i seen the car i spotted that the number plates had been changed, there was no sign of any dealers name printed on the bottom of them..

Very Dodgy...!!!

i would say who ever tend to buy it get AA or RAC for a full comprehensive check on it and see what they say about it ... if they say is clear and later found out is not u can got to AA or RAC and claim the money what ever u paid for it ....

Does the HPI check involve the chassis number?
Did you see the V5C and/or check the chassis number?

Yeah agree with all of the above. And always best to ask lots of questions and do your research (glad I did now). Called the local police crime department last night, there advice was ....simple dont buy the car!!! Serve & protect. Thought they mite have at least took the mobile number, guys post code etc..
But I suppose with the volume of car crime etc, probably a small fish in a big ocean!!
