AUQ dropping power when hot?

AUQ - ECU cutting throttle

Hi,

To cut a long story short has anybody ever seen the ECU cut the throttle at a certain point in the rev range (in my case usually around 6200) despite the pedal staying at 100%

I noticed some small dips in power, did some VAG COM logs (in 3rd gear) and despite it looking like boost gets pulled the main thing is this pulling of 100% throttle (boost could just be a by-product).

It actually dips to 40% then after a few split seconds resumes 100%.

The car is running a stage 2 remap if thats relevent at all.

Thanks for any ideas!

Sorry, I should have mentioned that.

There are no fault codes. (which is a shame!!)

Does it do this every time at the same point in the rev range?

I don't suppose VAG-COM shows any missfires does it? Although it would usually show it as a fault code, you can check in measuring blocks 14, 15 and 16 against RPM.

It could be the beggining of your Coil Pack/s going or sparking problems.

How does it tick over? Is that smooth?

It does it roughly at the same points but not the exact same points.

There are no missfires in the missfire blocks.

Tickover is smooth as silk.

DPJ - What do you mean? An air flow graph or the boost graph?

Here is a 3rd gear boost log.

Notice how boost is pulled 6 or 7 times.

I only did one log run per block.

Some of them like air mass only shows 2 dips as on that run it only did it twice.

I logged:

Air Mass. This just shows two small dips.

Boost. As above.

One I thought was timing but probably isnt as its all over the place.

Cat temperature. This peaks at 825deg C

Throttle position (vs actual throttle angle). This run only had one dip. Both lines are at 100% until around 6000 RPM where the throttle plate closed to 40% then resumes back to 100% a few tenths later.

I wonder if there is a communication issue between the Throttle Pedal and the Throttle Valve.

What would cause the vavle to suddenly close slightly if the Pedal is fully down?

Firstly, thanks for the replys DPJ (and everybody else) - much appretiated.

To be honest we didnt really know what to log to get the best results for fault finding.

31 rings a bell but I'm not sure about the rest.

If 020, 118, 031 or 032 are the key I will log them tonight and post back the results.

Are there any more that would be useful?

ps. my vag com only refreshes around 3 times per second so I can only log one block at once.

3 refreshes / sec is about normal.

Log 003 / 020 together
Log 115 / 031 together
Log 118 / 032 together.

4th gear runs preferably 2k > limiter.

I will log them tonight and get back with the results as soon as I can.

Thanks.

Here is what I could get from the logs……

Log 003 / 020

On this run the car didn’t seem too bad.

Block 20 showed 0 for everything. Throttle angle stayed at 100% and here is air mass and ignition angle.

Log 115 / 031

On this run it did it more than the first run.

Here is boost with the AFR (based on 14.65 x lambda), Lambda factor and engine load.

b3.jpg

Log 118 / 032

On this run it did it a fair bit.

Idle 02 adaption stayed at 1.1 and run o2 adaption stayed at 3.1 all the way through.

Here is boost, boost, duty cycle and air temp.

Does that shed any light?

When the tuner setup the stage two software he noted that there were a few fuel problems which he though was probably the fuel pump not running 100%. He fitted a 4 bar regulator and said that seemed to solve the fuel issue. That might add something to this, I don’t know.

On one of the runs we logged even though throttle was 100% down, the plate closed to 40% briefly. Not sure if that was the ECUs last ditch attempt at cutting boost or something?!?!?

Its a K03S yeah.

Modifications are:
Forge Motor sport front mounted intercooler
Forge Motor sport turbo intake pipe
Forge Motor sport diverter valve (yellow spring)
Green cotton air filter element
Denso Iridium IK22 spark plugs (0.8mm gap)
Milltek Hi flow sports cat and downpipe (2 ½ inch)
Milltek full cat back exhaust system (2 ½ inch)
Spec Stage 2 clutch
Peloquin LSD

The map was done by CC.

Could it be a faulty N75? (I have no idea to be honest!!!)
