Battery size - 1.4 tsi 150

Hi, after some advice regarding battery size on my 1.4 ecotsi 150 with start/stop. Most websites list the correct size as 027 59ah but Tayna lists 096 70ah. Currently the car has a Lion Calcium 096 70ah. So what’s the actual correct spec and if I do end up buying the 027 will that mess with any of the car’s electrics as I’ll be downsizing? Thanks in advance

I have a 2016 MY 1.4 ACT 150 still with the original battery, the attached shows the later version of the battery fitted to my car, hope this helps.
I would go with what Tanya has listed. Make sure it's an EFB battery.

My 2.0TDI has a 096 AGM. 096 is the biggest size that will fit the battery tray.
Your factory spec will depend on your PR code - and there are a lot.
Generally start stop cars have AGM type, and generally you want equivalent of more ah ratting than original.
Fitting the bigger one should not be a problem - as long as you code the new battery to your car - so you tell the car the battery type and capacity.

I think the diesels have AGM and petrol have EFB batteries.

Thanks for the replies, so it looks like the factory fit is 027 59Ah EFB. Is there any point in getting the bigger 096 70Ah? If it's not necessary, I'd rather go back down to a 027 as it is cheaper..

Maybe more to the point is, why is this car needing a 3rd battery from new.
It’s a good question actually. The Lion battery currently in the car I don’t think has been coded correctly to the car so I reckon it’s prematurely dying.

perhaps get hold of obdeleven, vcds or whatever to check before buying the new battery?

this efb seems to be a cheaper version of agm. You want to ensure you have (exceed) the minimum crank power (cca). Personally I’d go for the 096.

In my case, the "one size up" AGM that I've bought to replace the 8.5 Years/48K miles original EFB in my wife's 2015 VW Polo 1.2TSI, is still waiting for its time to get put into use!

At this rate this 096 AGM could well end up in a 2019 Leon Cupra, if my older daughter buys me a 027 size AGM - though that would only happen if currently an 027 AGM is significantly cheaper than a 096 AGM - which they probably aren't!

Edit:- changed "8.5 miles" to "8.5 Years", also swopped over "096" and "027" in the 2nd paragraph!

Right OK, seeing as it’s already got an 096, I’ll stick to that then. Exide EL700 EFB £101 on Tayna. I’ll then look to code with a friend’s Carista.

Assuming the DSG has a bigger battery due to the mechatronics drawing more power?

A friend has owned a 2018 T-ROC 1.5TSI 150 6MT and replaced it with a 2019 T-ROC 1.5TSI 150 DSG, and both had/have the smaller EFB battery from new, which slightly surprised me.
My older daughter's 2019 Leon Cupra - obviously DSG, has the larger EFB battery from new, I thought that due to its "cost point" and position in the Leon range, it would have been fitted with an AGM battery at the factory.

New cars are not always better! often they are made cheaper!
T-Roc has many cost savings over the Golf/Leon - looking at the awful plastic front door cards and plastic dash! doesn't surprise me they are saving money on fitting a worse battery.
