At the end of the day everyones veiw is diffrent and not everyone is the same, so my information isnt wanted round here i guess, sorry for bothering chaps.

Nobody said your information wasn't wanted, I guess just the wild allegations with no aparent reasoning.

Think it's probably best to get back on topic tho

Agreed, Your input is more than welcome but you just cast a very negative and judmental view upon dealers thats wasnt really needed and wasnt justified.

With regards to the myth of dealer prices. You take into that a private garage might charge £40 an hour but take 3 hours to find a fault that they have never seen before, where as a dealer will charge £60 an hour and find the fault within the first hour and repair it there and then and charge £60 only because they have seen the same thing on another vehicle. That means your paying less per hour but being charged longer for a job that a dealer would find and fix for half the price. Thats not a rip off, surely the customer is being more hard done by the private garage?

not always , surely seat are aware of our leaky doors and must be real pros at fixing them ,yet they said they wanted over £100 per hour and would need for 2days to ganantee the problem , it took me about 20mins with the guides off here ? and im an office boy -lol

as to the problem from the OP , what are the symptoms , mine randomly wont start when engine is hot and the timings been adjusted , some are saying a faulty sensor , but i have no error codes to work off .

cheers

I agree that some repairs are ridiculous but you pay for what you get with stuff like that, i've seen private garages take on these leaky door seals and have bonded the inner door plate back on with silicone and done nothing but make the problem worse!

CHEVYCHASE any update on this mate?

Not always but it sounds like you haven't had the car long so maybe there is a slight loss of power thats been there all along.

How long did you have the car before the fault started happening?

A only got the car in april this year and the problem first came about two days later. to rule out it being traded in like this a contacted the previous owner and she wasn't aware of it but who can you trust.
Am waiting for the dealer to call me when they have a time slot for me hopefully this week.
for the syptoms its hard to say as a can't feel loss of power but with it only havin it two days a don't really have anythin to compare against, and the error on VAG COM as said earlier.

not at the minute as it was last in the garage last week to check it was the same fault as before, before it got booked in. one of there excuses was that the soldering on the ecu was faulty as well as the sensor. when the engine light comes on a seem to be over taking on hills? is this because theres more strain on the engine?

One thing to consider is if the car has been remapped and revs higher than the set limits in the ecu then it might throw up a speed sensor fault because its reading outside the ecu's tolerence. I know you might not have had it done but the previous owner may have.

i'm not 100% sure mate, but if the previous owner had it mapped then surely the fault would have been present before they got rid - or this fault maybe the reason why they got rid, if the dealer is messing you about then tell them you are booking it in elsewhere and are going to send them the bill because they should realisticly be regarding this as a priority now.
