Error code P177C any help?

When i put my gear in Sport mode
The Gear didn't get in 4th (s4) it was stuck in 3rd and a check engine light turned on for few seconds then i get this error
I did reset the fault and tried again then it was the 5th gear that didnt get in and the fault turned up again
I didn't find anything useful in google can someone help me?

Think it's pretty much what it says, the clutch is worn. I realise it's a DSG. From what I've read, DSG is basically two manual units in one housing.

So i need to replace the clutches?

Looks that way. Has the DSG been serviced / fluid changed at the right intervals?

Yes it has
Now im reading that maybe a software update will fix the problem it is a thread from 2014

It's worth a try as it's a cheaper option. If it's the one I'm thinking of it does something like increase the allowed tolerance.
