Fuel Smell

Hello,

I was driving home from work this evening and noticed a fairly strong smell of petrol in the car. At first I thought I’d forgotten to take a petrol can out of the boot (filled for the lawn mower) but it’s not that.

I’ve had a brief look at the engine (too how to mess with in detail) and a faint whiff in the engine bay but no obvious signs.

Any likely culprits?

2014 (64) plate 1.2 TSI

Which engine is in your car, the 1.2TSI 8V or the 1.2TSI 16V - one way to work that out is, if the turbo is at the front of the engine, nearest the bumper, then it is the 1.2TSI 8v - if it is this engine, then maybe the PCV valve has snapped off and letting crankcase fumes escape.

It is the 8v, thanks. Where is the pcv located?
Had another look and found this that looks broken off

That indeed is the PCV valve, a stupid design and/or placement!

I'd think that Google will/should lead you to a guide on how to replace this under "Skoda Rapid - or even here:- "https://www.briskoda.net/forums/top...reather-hose-one-way-valve-replacement-guide/" - same engine so same part numbers for part available at any VW Group dealership parts department.
