Issue after battery replacement

Hi all,
I have just replaced my battery and now I have some weird issues with the car, more specifically with the automatic central locking and the cruise control. For the central locking, the car is supposed to lock all doors above a certain speed. Now that I changed the battery the central locking randomly switches on and off while the car is moving. As for the cruise control, once I set off with the car, it can be activated, but after a short time it just deactivates itself and cannot be activated again, no matter what I do, only cycling the ignition will solve the issue. And even that works only for a short time, as the CC will simply deactivate itself again. Any idea what could be the issue and how it could be resolved? I have not taken the car yet to any shop to look for trouble codes.

Both these "actions" will be getting controlled by ABS signals, which is where the road speed is derived from - I think.

Maybe disconnect that battery for 5 minutes and then reconnect to see if any "uncertain" conditions exist in a controller, worst case situation being that arcing/sparking has damaged a controller, but normally VW Group cars are not affected by that happening. Maybe this is just coincidence and you have an intermittent wheel sensor error or a wheel sensor wiring error.

If this continues you should get all the car's smart controllers read to see if any faults have been logged.

Not sure whether you might need the window retraining thing after the battery is disconnect or whether this isn't on your platform. My cut and paste notes I keep if I'm ever in this situation of having the battery off and the dealer forgetting to do the retrain procedure. That one effects the motorised door mirrors if you have them, but it's all to do with your platform the car is on:

>>
Resetting one-touch opening and closing
The automatic open and close function will
not work if the battery has been temporarily
disconnected. The function can be restored
as follows:
– Close the window as far as it will go by lift-
ing and holding the electric window switch.
– Release the switch and then lift it again for
1 second. This will re-enable the automatic
function.
If you push (or pull) a button to the first
stage, the window will open (or close) until
you release the button. If you push or lift the
button briefly to the second stage, the win-
dow will open (one-touch opening) or close
(one-touch closing) automatically. If you op-
erate the button while the window is opening
or closing, it stops at this position.

So called one touch is when you press up or down on the window and they roll down or up without holding. That messes up mirror in on the Ateca in they they aren't retrained.

As well as what Rum4mo said there might be some other procedure if it isn't that, that needs to be done to restore normal operations. The one touch procedure on the windows above is the odd one we have to do on certain platforms... you might have your own.

I did exactly that, disconnected the negative cable again from the battery for a short time, and the issues have been resolved upon re-connecting the cable.

I had no problem with the windows, it was the door locks going crazy. But thanks for this as well, now i know what to do in case the windows are not functioning as they should.:)
