hi, i have a mk4 ibiza slammed on cheap coilovers and i get the same knocking noise if i hit a bump or whatever but only on the right hand side. also if i reverse and brake firmly it feels asthough something moves and you can hear a loudish knock. iv had top mouts replaced and lower arm bushes and it still does it. this has only come on over the past few month and my coilovers have been on for a year now.

Did you get this sorted mate? I have the same problem. I have checked everything, I am starting to think it could be top mount bearings.

Here's your answer! :p

I've finally sorted it. A few months ago I fitted new genuine top mount bearings. Last week I re-fiited an original one from my car - no difference, but I did notice both had 1mm horizontal play. At the weekend I fitted another old top mount bearing which had far less play, and it is now nice and quiet.

Think this might be my knocking sound as well, im getting a shock and spring package soon anyway so will get new top mounts at same time

Syko did you get this sorted ? I have the same problem as the original post but i also get the clunking your describe when braking in reverse. seems to come from the O/S top area so can only put down to engine mount or strut bearing / top

if i go over rough ground i get alot and knocking clunking that i suppose you could put down to to rate at which you would expect the coilovers to dampen. I suspect mine is topmount / bearing but i dont want to replace until i know for sure. I have the parts but say if the strut is fubar i dont want to pay for the labour again.
