I'd love FR bumpers and wheels - but my 1 year placement is almost over and I'm going to be going back to being a poor student :(

So for now maybe some LED sidelights lol.

But the overall plan is to get it lowered - dont wan't to mess with it too much at the moment due to the warranty. A remap will also be on the cards, though I don't think there are any for the 1.6 TDI yet and theres the issue of the warranty as well. So progress will be slow! :(

if there aren't any available mark, take it to a tuning company and let them experiment on your car. They'll most likely give you either a map, or a discount, and at worst, it won't work, and you'll be stuck with the same map. just an idea :)

Yeah fully understand about the poor student..that's me right now! can barely afford fuel lol

I heard that about the 1.6TDI as well, difficult to crack perhaps :/
I'm sure revo et al will get it done eventually though.

Nothing major - have been neglecting this thread :( and the car :(

Let's see, I bought an iPod dock on eBay back in September

iPod in it'd dock:

Let's you browse playlists, artists, podcasts etc just like you would on the iPod

All in all the iPod functionality of the head unit is pretty impressive, infact it's as good as using the iPod directly, as you can control everything from the HU or steering wheel stalk.

So that's really all thats changed since my last update. I did buy some supposidly canbus friendly LED sidelights but they caused a dashboard error and I didnt really like the look of them anyway.

Only plan for the moment is some silver indicator bulbs for the front. And it's due a service so I need to get it booked in for that.

Wish i had time and money to do more, but being in final year is really taking up all my time at the moment and we're only 4 weeks into the semester!

Had to get a pic of the lowest temp I've ever experienced in Northern Ireland, it has been absolutely freezing here for well over a week now.

Despite the cold, the car is running great, starts perfectly in the mornings :)

Hmmm - casting my mind back LOL.

That looks different from what I got, I'm 99% sure I only got 4 bits of vinyl when I got mine.

I'd hazard a guess and say is that a 5 door version? Mine definitely didn't come with those thin weird shaped strips. My brother has just got a mk3 5 door Ibiza, and said he'd be getting vinyl this week, so I'll check with him when I'm home to see if his looks like that.

As for fitting it, i just peels off the backing, dipped it in soapy water and then stuck it on, you have to wedge it in behind the rubber seal of the windows but it's pretty easy.

If you screw it up the soapy water means you can easily reposition it, and then i just dried it by giving it a blast with a hair dryer. Don't worry if you get a few small bubbles, mine came out over time.

Oh and thanks for the post Jordan, cos I've just realised how much I've neglected this thread! Must post up my latest mk5 mods!

It's about time I updated this, 1 or 2 mods in the pipeline and any excuse to show off the fantastic W8 light.

Really impressed with it, adds a bit of VW/Audi style class to the interior.

For anyone interested in doing this I posted a guide here. Unfortunately for the Cupra/Boc guys, black versions of the W8 light are like rocking horse poo, but people on other forums have sprayed it black, and occasionally they pop up on eBay for silly money.

Impressive MPG - after 13,000 miles the car still seems to be loosening up nicely.

In other news, someone has scraped my rear bumper, so gonna have to touch that up. Will get it properly sorted in the summer when I finish uni. Also waiting for some decent weather so I can touch up the million stone chips that have accumulated over the winter :(

Oh and the major mod planned is to get it lowered, I thought I'd be able to stick out the ride height until the warranty is up, but I can't. Its a shame to have such a nice designed spoiled by the huge arch gaps. So that will be getting sorted as soon as I have the funds! :)

Apparently, those are for the rears, behind the rear window.. I clarified with David that it was a Mk3 3 door.. So I dunno..
Yeah, if you could clear that up for me mate, that would be awesome!!

What is that light out of? I have never saw that before..

And lows on a mk5 look the b0ll0cks!! Also, all colour coded with Audi RS4 alloys in anthracite make it look peng!! Good luck mate, and yeah.. More updates are needed Mark! :)

I've just checked on my handy version of ETKA that I recently acquired ;) and that is the right vinyl David's gave you. The smaller bits are for the rear windows, but it seems you only need them if the rear windows open, which mine didn't.

So that's that mystery solved :)

The interior light is from a VW Passat W8 and I think some Skoda Superbs had it too. I can't wait to get it lowered, and you've read my mind, I'd love anthracite wheels, its one of those colours that works really well on a red car!

Awesome Mark!! Your a star!! So, if I bin the rear, very odd shaped bits.. I just fit the 2 larger bits? Does that look a little more familiar? Because I have no idea whatsoever of how to fit them.. Honestly mate, Any help would be magic haha..

Sorry Jordan head like a sieve... :(

This guide is pretty handy and describes the method I used.
http://www.ehow.co.uk/how_5170501_apply-vinyl-car.html

Basically, clean down the b-pillars, squirt some soapy water on them and then apply the vinyls.

You'll need to peel back the rubber window seals as the vinyl should sit under them a bit. At least with the soapy water method you get a few attempts at it, as the soapy water prevents it from instantly sticking and gives you a bit of play with it.

Hope this helps, have a look on youtube too, there might be some handy video tutorials.

Can't believe I'm only getting around to looking through this now! Car's looking really good Mark.. The spoiler is class. W8 Light is definately one of the many mods I want to do this summer... (am I right in thinking its around the £45 mark?) Got a few plans in the pipeline for my own, trying to gather a few resources together for a good go at them lol

Like I said, car's looking great, keep it up! :)

Thanks Maverick! Aye the W8 light is around £45 - talk to David at SERE, he was able to get mine even though it's not a SEAT part.

I'm really considering getting Cupra headlights, though I've just bought a new laptop so i dunno if i can afford them :( the joys of being a student, can't wait for the next bit of student loan...
