sad news, the time has finally come to sell up and move on. after nearly three years of eventful fun motoring i've had to make the heart breaking decision to sell my leon cupra R. after mostly trouble free driving it seems a shame to see it go but the running costs just don't make financial sense when i'm trying to save my pennies. so, do i try and return it to as near standard as i can or try and sell it on with all the mods on?

i can't even advertise it until i've put on two new front tyres, transferred the private plate, replaced the ARB/wishbone bushes and had the cambelt service done which is all money i could do without spending but i'll never manage to sell it if i don't get all this sorted out first.

i'm thinking about getting something smaller like an ibiza or polo, i'd like to keep it VAG but i'm keeping my options open.

sell some of your mods to put back to standard, thatll pay for the cambelt, bushes etc.....

more chance of selling standard anyway.

considering what you would get for your LCR is it even worth it? i recently considered selling mine and getting something smaller so i could save more money, but the price id get for it is shocking! and id end up losing out more than what i could save. current market is f***ed. suppose a divorce kinda forces you too...

tell me about it, i reckon in just under three years i've lost around six grand!

Return to standard and get a derv Ibiza mate. Then you can stay in the family :D

ideally i'd like to stay with a seat, i was considering a mk2 ibiza GTI/cupra as i don't really want to spend a lot of money on the next car............. i might even consider something like a 1.4 ibiza/polo for the cheaper tax & insurance.

I'd definitely go for standard, as i bought mine recently id only buy a standard, well looked after one as modded ones can give buyers the opinion its been thrashed even if its looked after better by an enthusiast compared to the regular joe. Im in a similar position as i might also have to get rid of mine soon aswell as my mileage is going up a lot which isnt an overly bad thing on petrol but the rest adds up with expensive brakes, tyres and the rest. Shame its a bad time to sell though i bought mine as prices were comming down but seems there even lower if your able to sell them now.

i bought mine at almost exactly the wrong time :( just before everything dropped like mad, i reckon you should get an ibiza derv, still SEAT, still quick and insurance/tax etc is cheap (compared to an LCR)

my leon cupra derv is 120 a year tax , chuck the car in sumone elses name technically not yours to split !!!

hmmm.. I asked my solicitor about that at the time of my divorce and she told me that the courts can take a dim view of you transferring assets

Karl, sorry to hear that mate, I've been there and gone through that 2 years ago, so if you want a chat sometime let me know......
