There are core mods that go across Vag cars that the platform shares others that are specific to equipment fitted. I've listed the Ateca ones I did on the platform that shares the 2016-2019 which is Leon 3:

I don't touch engine tuning one's myself so I've not listed them.

Some web sites split by tried and tested. Others wander the tested into tried and not tested 🙄.

On the Ateca central locking with mirrors in on one touch was a major one on early Atecas to 2018 or so before Seat fell inline and put it on the menu. Probably a list of Leon 3 ones by year I guess 🙄.

I have enabled the below for a lock acoustic confirmation sound from the alarm but there is no beep when locking, have I missed a setting?

This is the full coding I have but from memory I had to do a factory reset in the car settings menu before it worked.
It was a very long time ago so it may also have required a full close down (hold the power button till it switches off).

1 - Module 09 - Electronic control unit - Code (31347)
2 - Adaptation
3 - Response signals
4 - Akustische rueckmeldung entriegeln - (Change value to On) (It will give two beeps when opening)
5 - Akustische rueckmeldung verriegeln - (Change value to On) (Will beep when closing)
6 - Akustische rueckmeldung global - (Change value to On)
7 - Akustische rueckmeldung signalhorn - (Change value to On) (To do it through the horn)
8 - Menuesteuerung akustische rueckmeldung - (Change value to On) (On-screen menu)
9 --- - Dauer der akustischen rueckmeldung vom einfachhorn - Normal (Long) or Kurz (Short)

Just got around to sorting this out. I have SEAT Sound and reversing camera retrofitted, will factory reset wipe them or only the car/infotainment settings?

Honest answer is I dont know but I coded the change and it did not work, months later I did the factory reset and all started working (and it was in the original instructions). However none of my other changes were impacted but I already had the SEAT Sound never got round to reversing camera but even if it does wipe them it should be a simple coding job to fix.

US-style rear blinkers on 5F facelift with LED, in case no one had posted them yet. Coding in the descriptions.

also a V2 version with the inner/outer out of phase for even more camp.

Not sure if this is the correct place or i should start a new one.

Did a track day today to test out a new Aux Radiator and Oil Cooler against previous setup.
Bottom line the Oil Cooler is doing the job I wanted (eg its reducing the oil temp after a heavy load of over 20 minutes on the track.

However I was running a number of charts to compare temps vs two previous track days in November to ensure how well the coolers are working.

So far so good But:

1/ Previously I have been using the live data element in control unit 01 called Engine oil temperature,
this value on my old setup agreed with the value I could see on the dashboard screen

After fitting the oil cooler the screen value no longer matches the value in Engine oil temp, however the label Oil temperature sensor 2 agrees with the screen. There is also another value called Oil temperature sensor 2, raw value this appears to be showing a fixed value with a V (Which I have assumed in volts).

So my question is there appears to be two temperature points (hence the different values I am seeing) does anybody know where the physical temp points are in the oil system.

2/ I was running scans to check for any issues and got the following C10DF00 Brake temperature, now I know I am on a track day and Cadwell is a very tight and twisty track so lots of braking but I have a big brake kit and upgraded pads, further there are no temp sensors on the brakes as far as I know. I have seen some info saying this is as a result of the ABS Sensors detecting size changes in the same way as the tyre pressure system does. Has anybody come across this error and found out what it means.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, everyone,

My OBDeleven device arrived today and I tested it by making some adaptations I had mind. Here's what I did:

- Auto-mode fan speed display activation.
- Mirror folding via key fob one-touch.
- Park-pilot switch-off speed set to 5 km/h.
- Number of comfort signals set to 5.
- High-beam assist memory activation.

There's a lot of lighting customisation options but I didn't want to fiddle with it too much, as the default lighting configuration is good enough for me, with the Scandinavian-style rear DRLs already switched on by the factory.

I'm also planning to use the device for a retrofit project. I'm going to need to monitor some live data and also some help from Leon owners whose cars already have the feature I'd like to retrofit, and who have a diagnostics device on hand.

But that's for another post, so far I'm happy with the capabilities of the device and hope it would prove really useful in the near future.

Cheers,
Serdar

Hi, everyone

The retrofit project I was talking about in the post above was installing a seat occupancy sensor in the front passenger seat and activating it.
For this, I'm going to buy a sensor, get it installed in the seat and connect it to the airbag control unit, along with the passenger belt latch's cable.
I see those tasks as the easier part of the project.
The hard part is figuring out the coding, because I didn't see anybody who did this before and there didn't seem to be any kind of documentation about it.

Today I checked the long coding of the airbag control unit on a 2014 Golf Highline, which belongs to a friend of mine, using OBDeleven.
Then I compared the data to the data from my car.
The results are like this :

Golf ------ Leon

98 00011001 ------ 98 00011001
CC 00110011 ------ CC 00110011
C0 00000011 ------ C0 00000011
00 00000000 ------ 00 00000000
00 00000000 ------ 00 00000000
00 00000000 ------ 00 00000000
00 00000000 ------ 00 00000000
00 00000000 ------ 00 00000000
5C 00111010 ------ 40 00000010
00 00000000 ------ 00 00000000
00 00000000 ------ 00 00000000
CF 11110011 ------ CC 00110011
00 00000000 ------ 00 00000000
48 00010010 ------ 08 00010000
00 00000000 ------ 00 00000000
00 00000000 ------ 00 00000000
00 00000000 ------ 00 00000000
65 10100110 ------ 65 10100110

There are 18 bytes in the long coding of the airbag control unit.
Fifteen of those are the same in both cars.
Only three bytes are different and a total of six bits look different in those bytes.

Now somehow I need to find out which of those bits correspond to front passenger side seat belt check and seat occupancy check.
Any bit of information about this would be greatly appreciated.

The physical airbag configuration of both cars are the same, I believe.
The only difference should be the passenger side seat belt warning and the seat occupancy sensor.

Six bits of difference in the data looks too much to me, there may be other different features that we don't know about.
And because of the airbag control unit being a safety related thing, I don't want to risk things by updating my unit with the exact data from the other car.

Also it would be great to have more data for comparison from Leon owners who has a diagnostics device, preferably facelifted ones in FR trim, and not the ones with rear seat belt warning feature, because that would bring more complication to the data. I got the data from OBDeleven by taking the screenshots of each byte in the long coding section of airbag control unit, so anyone who's willing to help can use the same method.

Cheers,
Serdar

check out https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1O3Gw7BtZV3vLusZXMsS8tPfOSJybo2UG this is the Leon Spanish site and the owners in the early days kindly shared setups so have a look, I have a Cupra280 (2014) so if you need anything from that let me know

I also have a number of Leon in my garage, what year is your car and I will try and get some data for you

Hi, thank you very much for this resource, I have a feeling that it is going to prove helpful!
I already checked data from some 2017 and 2018 FR's there, mine is a 2018.

The FR trim in our market was different to some European markets, for example all FRs here have panoramic sunroof, which was an option in most markets. While they were adding some features as standard, I guess they had to cut some stuff which customers were not interested in so much, like passenger side seat belt warning, which was standard in most European markets, I believe. So I think the data from those cars have what I'm looking for.

The ones I already took a look are very similar to mine, there's just one byte of difference and only three bits in that byte are different (0 in my car, 1 in those cars) and the difference is also consistent with the Golf Highline I compared today, which has the passenger seat belt warning. Those bits most probably hold the passenger seat belt warning and seat occupancy sensor configurations (active/inactive).

Anyway, more data are always welcome and I'd appreciate if you'd have time to look at the Leons in your garage, if there's any that's close to a 2018 FR.

Thanks again and cheers 🙏

I have two 2018 FR's

98CCC000000000005C0000CC008800000065
98CCC00000000000400000CC000800000065

2017 Cupra (now mine has rear seat sensors as well so not sure if the facelift ones had this as well

98CCC000000000005C0000CC008800000065

2020 Leon FR

98CCC000000000005C0000CC000800000065

I also noticed in Live Data there is a value called Seat occupied recognition but I need to be attached to the car to see if it shows anything.

Just as an aside is there any possibility that what you are looking for is in control unit 09 (Central Electrics)

Thanks again for the quick response :)

I already looked at the live data both in my car and Golf today.
The three items that I checked to see were driver seat belt, passenger seat belt and seat occupied recognition.
The data were consistent with what's installed and also with the state of sensors.
In my car, it showed disconnected (or connected) for driver seat belt, not installed for passenger seat belt & seat occupancy, all correctly.
In the Golf, it showed all the correct states for both seat belts and seat occupancy.

If you are able to physically check those two 2018 FRs, you will most probably see that the one below does not have passenger seat belt warning and seat occupied recognition, just like mine because the data is exactly the same as mine. And for the one on top, it seems that it has passenger seat belt warning and seat occupied recognition and probably also rear seat belt warning. If you could verify those assumptions of mine, it would be a very valuable discovery.

2017 Cupra seems to have exactly the same configuration with the 2018 FR on top, and 2020 FR below seems to have passenger seat belt warning and seat occupied recognition but no rear seat belt warning.

If I'm not wrong, byte 08 (first byte is 00) holds front seat belt and occupancy sensor configuration, and byte 13 holds the rear seat belt configuration.

afraid I dont have access to the cars anymore and due to OBD11 BUG I cant see the data offline.

I did hower see this video
which you may need to do when you fit as it looks like there is some basic settings that have to be done.

Before buying the seat occupancy sensor and start installing it in the passenger seat, I wanted to see if the wiring from the seat to the airbag control unit is already there. Sometimes manufacturers do install the wiring and the connectors for some optional features even if those options are missing from the car. I just wanted to be sure whether that's the case for my car.

I removed the passenger side panel from the center console, reached the control unit and unplugged the 90-pin connector from the unit. But there's too many wires in the loom and it's not possible to see which wire goes to which pin. I'm pretty sure that the connector can be disassembled to two or three parts but I don't want to break any tabs or something.

Anyone knows the right way to disassemble this connector ?

The other way to check the wiring is to remove the seat and look for any empty connectors there. I'll do that if I decide not to mess with the connector on the control unit side.
