CUPRA Leon VZ Full Details

The CUPRA Leon VZ boosts performance with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 325PS (239kW).

CUPRA continues to redefine the limits of performance with the CUPRA Leon VZ, the most powerful front-wheel drive Leon to date. Inspired by the racing DNA of the CUPRA Leon VZ TCR, the brand’s most dynamic front-wheel-drive Leon is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that delivers an exhilarating 325PS (239kW).

Limited to just 1,500 units globally, it marks an exclusive opportunity for the CUPRA Tribe to experience the top of performance and accelerates the Leon into a new era.

The CUPRA Leon VZ builds on the brand’s strong results in racing, translating the adrenaline and precision of its performance know-how into a road-going car that’s both assertive and refined. Its new engine delivers performance that elevates the most dynamic model in the line-up to its maximum expression.

“With the new CUPRA Leon VZ, we’ve taken our most dynamic vehicle and pushed it to its ultimate expression. Its 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, inspired by our success in racing, is the beating heart of this high-performance hatchback — delivering pure, derestricted power and an emotional driving experience.”

The CUPRA Leon VZ’s 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivers 325PS (239kW) / 420Nm, making it the most powerful front-wheel drive Leon hatchback ever built. Tuned for precision and intensity, the engine is paired with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission that channels power seamlessly to the road. An integrated electronic front differential lock (VAQ) enhances traction and control, using real-time data from steering angle, wheel speed and yaw to optimise power delivery in dynamic driving scenarios. The technology ensures the CUPRA Leon VZ remains composed, even when pushed to its limits.

The high-performance hatchback’s performance is amplified yet further thanks to its delimited top speed of 270 km/h, placing the CUPRA Leon VZ firmly in the upper echelon of hot hatch capability. It’s also quick, reaching 100km/h in just 5.4 seconds.

Built on the MQB Evo platform, the chassis has been tuned to match the car’s performance credentials. A combination of front MacPherson struts and rear multilink suspension ensures a balance between comfort and responsiveness, with springs and dampers calibrated for its unique needs.

Progressive steering delivers sharp feedback and agility, while Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC) adjusts the setup in milliseconds to suit changing road conditions. Drivers can tailor the chassis profile to their preferences, unlocking a more personalised connection to the car.

Braking performance is equally focused, with Akebono brakes featuring 6-piston calipers, delivering ultimate confidence and precision to the driver no matter the scenario.

The immersive experience is heightened by the vehicle’s copper quad exhaust pipes, which deliver CUPRA’s signature emotional sound; an evocative soundtrack that mirrors the car’s dynamic character.

Inside, the cabin reflects CUPRA’s design-led ethos. Dark chrome finishes – including the satellite buttons – add a stealthy sophistication.

Since its launch in 2018, CUPRA has sold over 1 million vehicles and launched seven distinct models. The CUPRA Leon VZ gives the CUPRA Tribe the ultimate performance experience and helps redefine what a performance hatchback can be.

The CUPRA Leon VZ is designed, developed, and the limited run of just 1,500 units, will be produced in Barcelona, at the brand’s headquarters in Martorell. It will be launched in the first quarter of 2026.
