This review refers to my purchase of a MY24 Arona and subsequent visits to the Service Dept.
The salesman was attentive but could have done a bit more having accepted the car as a return from the previous owner with 1200 miles on the clock. The sale was fine despite that VAG finance were unable to send emails to me to get the signature off site. This was rectified by using a gmail account. I purchased years extended warranty, service package, tracker, paint protection, scratch cover, MOT cover and a 3rd year of call assist. I had to finance those items as the purchase cost exceeded £20k.
After taking ownership several issues occurred. Firstly after a months ownership a scratch appeared on the windscreen, I took a closer look and could see thin opaque adhesive coming off the scratch - to me this indicated the dealer or the previous owner of 2 months had repaired the scratch.
The second fault was more serious - despite the car not having a registered owner the car clearly had an owner and would only allow guest mode. This created issues as on a couple of occasions the car boot had been unlocked remotely and after coming back to the car I found the dashboard settings had changed. Other issues include the sat nav not working correctly - you could not programme routes and information from the maps was missing (road labels, garages etc). The other noticeable issue was lack of power. Sales tried their best to try to clear the previous owner, but in the end the service Dept was its new home.
The car went in and came out and went in again to match known working components, 5 months after purchase the car was booked in for a week and 3 weeks later the care was returned fixed. Service Dept never told me what the issues were. However the car feels llike it has more power and I can program routes and know where I am with updates on accidents queues etc plus I am the owner!
The third issue related to the original wiper blades that jumped, these were replaced with new Bosch that also jumped and those finally bedded in after a year. The third set are perfect. Interestingly the dealership suggested that RainX was causing the wiper blades to jump.
Most issues I have is with the My SEAT App - I'm not alone! The latest is its telling me to replace the key battery, even after I have replaced it! The App also tells me the car is unlocked regularly, even when I peer at the car and can see the alarm led flashing!
In the times I have visited the Service Centre - parking is difficult as the dealership carries a large stock I am greeted and assigned a service rep. Drinks are available and the ability to chat with other owners is fair.
Overall the purchase was fine, I felt a bit rushed and if knowing what I did about the car would have not proceeded and got a different colour or make. Service have been fair and they did keep me fairly up to date by phone and voice.
The big question is would I use them again? Its a maybe, I like the car, but the tech is complicated and most is really not necessary and can make you a very lazy driver. This is my first car with low profile wheels and tyres, Im not sure why it needs them the ride is rough at the best of time even on Normal and ECO modes.
