Just after getting off the M1 at Jct 13 on Tuesday evening the turbo went bang and a smoke screen of 'Turbo Era F1' proportions ensued !!:censored:

What has REALLY pi$$ed me off though is that allegedly that problem with the turbo had be 'rectified' by a service and warranty centre on the Surrey/Berkshire/Hampshire borders !!! :censored: [:@] :censored:

Being fair though this is the first time in two and a half years that I've had cause to complain about them but feck me what a way for the motor to wrong after them satying it was all ok !!!:(

There's no way I'd want to take to the SEAT dealer in MK :thumbd: given my recent experiences with them so it's gone to an independent service centre in Bletchley. In total it's gonna cost about £1k (excluding the hire car) to sort but I bet that's cheaper than if it'd gone to a franchised dealer !!

I know I could have gotten SEAT Assistance to get the car to Surrey and there's also the possibility of getting a free courtesy car and a 'goodwill payment' from SEAT UK but, getting the car down to Surrey and me being stuck in MK while currently working in Brentford it just wasn't an option given the fact that I could have got none of these !!:( :(

What do you lot think my chances of getting a 'goodwill payment' if I write to SEAT UK after getting the car sorted myself  Not a fecking lot I bet eh

can you not get the turbo from A&M, i know on their thread they still had one brand new 150pd turbo's on there, think they were asking £360 which is super cheap. just a thought, plus its brand new, your new one may be reconditioned

Junction 13.. local to me then, live just of Junction 12....what happened exactly then?

What problems have you had from MK SEAT??

Mike

Pulled up at the roundabout then away again and as pressed the throttle after changing to 2nd there was a loud 'pop' and then no power and a HUGE cloud of smoke !! Good job it didn't happen in the outside lane of the M1 eh ?? :p

Sounds more like the problem isn't the turbo, so fitting a new one will just do the same.

did it run once it went pop? could it be the cambelt?

Oil feed to the turbo blocked? Could be overheating and destroying the turbo bearings perhaps?

Indeed :)

The garage got it running but it went pop on the test drive 'less than a mile in' they said !!

After it went pop the first time it would run but with no power and tons of smoke from the exhaust !!

The guy is convinced it was a dodgy new turbo, but now it a warranty thing so the main dealer's going to have it in to look at it !!

Is the car less than 2 years old, the warranties are 60k over 3 years, but if you go over 60k in the first 2 years the car is still covered. Mines on 86k and less than 2 years old, still getting stuff done on warranty..

Nope... nearly 3 years old !!

Anyway I thought the warranty was 3 years OR 60k

blimey, sorry to hear about this dude. hope you get it sorted soon.
Thanks sssstew ;)
All sorted now but not before MK SEAT fecked about for 4 days while they stripped the car down, didn't put it back together and just threw all the parts in the boot, lost 8 nuts in the process, treated me and the guys from Inde-Tech like second class citizens and generally acted like a bunch o c*nts!!:censored: [:@] [:@]

Oh dear chap, seems like you have had a simiar experiance to me, i had a hyrbid turbo fitted to mine, 2 dayd later that went bang, then had to buy a brand new one for £800 and a month and a half that went bang too, in proper F1 style, white smoke everywhere, and ppuring out of the exhaust. That turbo had warranty though luckily enough :D
