A mate of mine owns a mk3 cool s, and has lost his master key with no spare
I understand from reading about the flip key thread a new key would need to be coded at seat, but would they need to be called out as there isnt anything to get a copy of the key from?
how much is this going to cost?

any advice would be great :)

The dealer can order in a key which is specific to your mates chassis number and therefore is pre-cut to all his locks etc. Then he can get a flip key off ebay and have that as a spare! I think this costs a fair few quid, around £160 from what I've read on here!

I take it he has no use of the car at all at the moment?

No, he cant use it at all, I dont know if it has an immobiliser/alarm as heard these cost a bit more?
His windscreen is broken as well as its had to be left in a pub car park and he hasnt got the normal excess on his insurance so hes gonna have to spend a fortune it seems

I think all mark3's had the immob. He could just get the dealer to get him a non remote key then use the flip key thread to get a remote key. The dealer will be able to code the new key to the immobiliser.

Not a good situation for your mate!
