Hello, I've recently bought an 01plate Ibiza 1.8T Cupra in imperial blue sittin on tasty dark chrome 18's, and I' loving it but i've got a few questions.....

1) With the cupra being a turbo how exactly do i get a really cool psshhh sound....i'm only plyin ;) I know ya'll hate those stupid questions! :)

I've done a search and i cant find what i want...the problem is if i jump in my car and try to drive away without heating it up the car drives about 500m then judders and there is no power is any gear, its like there is a turbo protector system fitted or something? Is it possibly the cold start sensor?

Plus just today when i take the key out of the ignition and lock the car my cd player comes back on after between 30secs to 5mins! It keeps doing it, i think my car's maybe a lady and on her period an just feels lonely...? Its been horrible weather up here an i dunno if maybe somethin has shorted?

Pls help me, any good advice is appreciated!

Kyle

ding!

(assuming power returns once the car has sufficiently warmed ~5mins drive time)

as for the dodgy stereo, have a look through the mk3 section others were talking about this very recently

With regards to the strero i should put a tape in!?

How much are we talking for a sensor, and how hard is it to fit?

It not even that its slow, it just wont drive after say 400-500m and comes to a standstill then after a couple of mins it'll run, i thought it was strange because its not a race car, its meant for an everyday driver who i didn't think would need to heat it up...?

Something certainly dosnt sound right, do you know anyone with VAGCOM?

Sorry for my ignorance but is vagcom where the car is connected to a computer for faults...?

kyle

yep its is where abouts are you from there are plenty on this site with it that might have a look for you if your near anyone

I'm from the south-west of Scotland, about 10mins from Ayr, anyone near me?

Kyle

Yeah VAGCOM is the software used to connect a laptop to the car via a port under your steering wheel. It will show you any 'fault codes' your car may have thrown up. Can also be used to log certain values while the car is driving, air flow, air temp etc etc. Theres heaps of people about with the right setup. If you really get stuck then maybe try your nearest VW/Audi/Seat specialists.

hi people, could it be too many short journeys where the car doesnt get to temp very often? Or possibly some of your hoses could be loose or not connected properly ..

So am I the only MkIII Cupra driver who doesn't notice this when my car is cold? Clearly I don't rag it when it's cold, but I also don't notice much difference.

Same as Rich maybe ours is the combinnation of a flash red cupra and living in oxford! :p

alot of cars dont seem to do it, it certainly doesn't happen on every start but when it is very cold it usually does, it only lasts for 5mins max though, some times not even 2mins, all it does is limit boost until the car is sufficiently warmed up and then full boost can be requested. its something to do with secondary air pump, i had problems a while back where it would take up to 15mins for requested boost to be met, but this was down to a blocked vac hose, after i swapped them all it started to only last about 2-5mins max. do a search if u like to know more. I'm not alone, its been discussed before

but the description of the thread starters problem differs abit now, i agree something is not right
