Morning all,

Was just wondering if anyone here has wasted a Civic Type R?

They're around 200Bhp right? But only only weigh around 1200Kg?

197bhp, 1200kg ish but only 145lb/ft torque.

On a track, they will be all over a LCR. In the real world the LCR will have the edge and in a straight line duel I'd again expect the LCR to take it.

Ive been alongside a grey facelift example from about 30 mph off a roundabout and there wasnt much in it and i have an LC. I would certainly imagine an LCR to leave it quite comprehensively from a rolling start!

There is virtually no difference in performance LCR vs CTR

About once every 2 months we have a 20 pages thread on here discussing this which ends up with people getting their c0cks out and measuring them to see who has the largest.....

There were a series of videos from abroad also showing acceleration from a rolling start which showed the chipped LCR edging away....slowly

Also the Top Gear track times are within 0.1 secs

i had a go they are fast but i got an edge on it
after the guy with the honda civic said the redlined it in every gear to keep up i never in my lcr

I had a go with one of the lads from work - left him for dead! However, he did say that the engine is limited to 5000rpm until it's warmed up...

They are fast but only if the driver realises that it has to be redlined to go anywhere.

I've only ever raced one uphill on a dual carrigeway and I pulled away quite happily, on the flat I dont think it would have been so easy.

Had a run in with a brand new WRX impreza over the weekend, I was disappointed in its straight line speed, I gently pulled past him. Has face was quite a picture. God they are ugly cars!!

My X reg Civic 1.8 VTi would not switch over to the VTEC cam when cold either, I accidently found out on my way to trade it in.
I had a small encounter with a Clio 182 the other day, they are suprisingly nippy, supposed to be similar to CTR.

He is correct technically. Even my 92 and 96 1.6 VTi's would not change over to VTEC unless the engine was at normal operating temperature.

That's because the VTEC system is engaged based on oil pressure and temperature. Anyone thrashing a VTEC from cold is asking for problems.

had a go against one of these the other night the look of shock when they cant keep up is priceless.:D

Doesn't matter who argues what's the fastest.

We all know that an LCR is so fast it even leaves light trailing in its wake, although a LC TDi will run it close :p
