Hi,

I currently drive a Lupo GTI but looking for an Ibiza Cupra (unsure of what mk yet). I know a few members have driven Lupo GTI's and was wondering what the advantages of a mk3 Ibiza Cupra will be over them? Performance, handling, refinement etc.

Cheers

G

Most of the Mk3 Cupra is from the Polo Mk5 base anyway. I've driven a Polo Mk5 and it is very similar!

Tuneability being the main thing you can look forward to with the 1.8T, not going to get into the Remap debate but across the board, 450 notes will make roughly 190bhp with 230ish lb which is nothing to be snubbed at!

All depends on why you want to sell your Lupo really?

I guess it is down to power. The 1.6 in the Lupo is nippy but lacks torque. I also want something that cruises better on the motorway. I also dont rate the handling of the Lupo that great as standard - standard tyres (dunlops) are poor, and scary in the wet. It also rolls around far too much for a 'sporty' car.

I'd have given refinement to the loopy... They're a classy little package, with adequate power for their size - but never be as tunable as the beeza which could make you think you're driving a different motor every month...

just stick a 1.8t in the lupo!
We did :)

...not the easiest / cheapest option, is what i was getting at - i'm all for it! bring on the boost;)

@ bill - i bet getting home from the shops before stuff starts defrosting isn't a problem in your house.... ;)

Is that a charge cooler Bill on Mrs B's car?

yep its a charge cooler on her car. my old ibiza one on there.

defrosting not an issue... and blowing away local scubarishi boys is always good fun from the lights too. (and thats her not me doing that either!)

:cartman: ultimate sleeper - looks like a nun's car!

nice work ;)

You got any more info on here so i don't clog the thread with who what when and hows...?

oooohh!

Nah, that was my original point, it's cost prohibitive.

on topic. Depends what you want from your car, how long you're planning on keeping it etc, etc, etc

Them loops are grown up little cars (??) but the ibiza can play with the big boys in terms of performance...

I want a car that is faster and cruises better really. Whats the cupra like on the old petrol?

speed's a no contest, especially after tinkering... there's a few threads on MPG stuff - most accounts i've had have been from BT dudes driving around off boost...

if you are worried about fuel consumption then don't even think about a cupra.

had mine on the emissions tester and it was showing a perfect 1.01 which is as near as is humanly perfect to get it. that means i don't think it's overfuelling, and i get shite fuel cosumption.
