central locking

can anyone tell me how to set my central locking as its going crazy lately searched but cant find any thing

Might be worth elaborating on 'going crazy'... what is or isn't it doing?

you lock the car using the keyfob or key - it locks the doors.

Thats all there is to it - if yours doesnt do that - then something is broken!

have to press the open button about 3-4 times before it will let me in , locks fine

Have you tried changing the battery in the keyfob?

In some cases, 1 press will open all doors.

In others,
1 press should open drivers door, another press will unlock other doors.

If you need to press more than that - then you need a new battery, or stand closer to the car.

Yeah, check battery. Its a CR2032 if it needs replaing!

Had this with mine, they would open bit by bit with about 5presses until doors were fully open. Had to change the door solenoids. Spot on now!

It can be changed in VAG-COM, so some cars have been changed to suit the owners personal preferences. I have changed mine so it's one press to unlock all doors.

right tried a new battery today and no diff ......is it possible that my key needs recoding ?

No. If it's coded properly it will work. If it's not, it wont. There is no middle ground with this so it either works or doesn't.
