hi,

i have a 2004 Bizza and am looking for some quality lowering springs, for a firmer ride, also to stop the car looking like a tractor, on the 17" alloys!

anyone had fitted lowering springs? advice on which springs to go for? ...also i take it they simply replace the ibiza factory spings without too much trouble, front and back?

btw, yes, i know a complete coilover setup is the ultimate, but one step at a time. :)

thanks all.

Eibach are best for just springs mate, is it a diesel? If so will sit nicely on front but not so on the rear, seems to suffer with a high arse!

hi Ad Lav, thankyou for the quick reply mate. Yes, it is a TDi (forgot to mention)
also are there any negative points with only fitting springs rather than going for a complete coilover kit? ok the ride might not be as sweet as a complete coilover kit but regarding mechanics??? cheers :)

I put lowering springs on mine and it made the ride ALOT firmer!(May have been the quality of the brand?) Can be frustrating having to stop to get over speedbumps, u will get good at dodging drains though;)

Improved handling alot though!
Strut brace will also help stiffen up the front end

the standard shocks are under more stress but alot less pricey just fitting the springs on oem shocks if you can dig in your pocket abit more then do get the coilovers you can get them new for just £350-£400 and trust me ul definatly get the handling with coilovers not so much just springs hope this helps

I too am in the market for Coilovers/suspension...don't quite understand what your saying here rashy...

Lowering springs dont actually fit the original shocks so the ride is alot harsher, spend more money and get matched shocks and springs for a stiffer, lower and more comfortable ride. Costing around £200-£300 more for the coilovers

ive fitted eibach springs to mine with the standard shocks and must admit they aint lowered the back much but the front has dropped a good 30mm
The ride is loads smoother than the standard springs and noticably less body roll allround well pleased
if you want to go realy low there is no choice but to go with coil overs but i like to drive mine fast on normal roads and going that low would slow me down

Is that right....that cheap!?! its preety much that price for uprated spring & shock set.....if so then thats a bargain!

yolu can fit lowering springs but they are not matched for your shocks so aftr 20k you will need new shocks could buy eibach lowering springs and fit them then if its what your after fit uprated shocks few thousand miles later

smoother with the lowering springs? is your signature pic with the lowering springs on?

thanks for all the feedback guys, much appreciated! :coolthumb:
alot of useful points made and taken onboard.

thing is, you might pay £400 for a complete coilover kit, but you probably pay an extra £150 to £200 on top to get them fitted? so in the end works out quite expensive :(

are there any special offers for coilover kits atm for the ibiza anywhere?
(ideally in the beds / herts / bucks areas).

agree coilover is a more complete solution, as you have alot more (adjustable) control over the ride height, so you can adjust the stance over the alloys to your liking.

Eibach's are on!

To conclude, the Eibach Springs are now on (went for the PRO KIT), and the car sits nice and low over the recently purchased 17" Alloys!

Was worried it would be a disappointment, as the Springs wouldnt make alot of difference to the ride height, but it really DID make an obvious difference. [B)]

Even the guy at the garage said that I can hold off uprating the Shocks, as it has lowered significantly, it is hardly worth the extra expense!

VERY happy indeed - SWEET AS ! :p ;)

sounds good mate, have you got any pics...before and after?? what drop did you end up going for?

am getting...hopefully...a rebate from work soon, and until the time comes when i can afford to get coilovers, was thinking of getting some springs or the time being so i can get the look that im after

whats this about springs ruining your shocks??

taking the origional springs off your standard shocks and replacing them with firmer smaller 1's will cause the shock to be under more stress and a little bump will feel like a pot hole to the shockabsorber so after a while the shocks will start leaking! wont necasseraly mean they will go but 80% chance they will. if i where you id save and get the coilovers or shocks and springs all in 1 hit.

Thanks for the advice Rash, I do understand what you say above. ;)

I do plan on upgrading the Shocks in the (not too distant) future also. Like a 2 step process. Therefore, the current setup is only temporary.

As mentioned in one of my posts above, one step at a time. :)
