As much as I hate text speak, I'm not too sure about this whole blanking out Idea. Half the time people won't even notice they have written it, because it only blanks it out once the post is submitted. And people tend to read replies, not their own posts. And having *** sure makes it harder for me to read then if it just said C O Z. Before you know it, when someone writes "I'm" without an apostrophe, it will also be blanked. Followed by "gona", and then wrong spelling, and I'm not really sure where you draw the line

That's the point though. If you find it hard to read someone's post for whatever reason then you're going to be more inclined to write properly and in a manner which doesn't invoke the filter.

Well I'm just hoping its gonna catch up and people will start realising it like you said. Because at the moment the stars are just really annoying and frustrating . Its also sparking a lot of confused thread replies in the form of: "what does ** mean? "

OK, I hate to be picky but as it seems, because you have banned the letter "*" (why), ALL of my photobucket links are now missing................because the link includes the letter "why".

Come on guys, this really takes the biscuit. Don't tell me I will need to get ALL of my photo's hosted by someone else just so that the letter "why" isn't in the text.

I don't see a problem with trying to bring the quality of forum language and grammar up to par. I don't find it as annoying as some when i read text speak, however as Andy says, with 102 keys on most keyboards there is NO excuse for not using them properly. It's not like we're restricted to post length so why the constant need to shorten things. Hell even when i'm sending texts on the mobile I use full words, predictive text is more than good enough to do this.

This forum won't go the way of the other one because it's not run by ***** ******* *******

Although i do notice that some of the html formatting code such is also being blocked - there's meant to be an underline in my sig but the textspkfilter removes it

It was an oversight that the 2nd rate photo hosting would have bizarre characters in the link

It's also strange how you constraing the 'censor' to single characters and it will takes it out of alpha numeric instances

re: taking the biscuit - it's a culmination of getting fed up with lazy people who think that this is a playground. typing properly isn't hard (I'll bet most people here taught themselves) so it's an easy was of encouraging it.

I'm not about to start deleting posts with *'s in, but hopefully people will gradually learn.

maybe they'll even stop posting everything in the Mk1 Leon section too (we all have dreams)
