I took my turbo off at the weekend to remove the broken bolts.

It's done just under 70k miles (45k Revo) - virtually no play on the shaft or wear to the compressor vanes.

However, note the crack in the manifold flange towards where the gasket failed. Note the crack that runs all the way through the wastegate seat. :-o

I've just acquired a GT28RS eliminator this morning. :funk:

Lol, moanin about the cracked turbo when you got an eliminator comin. Brilliant.

Where did you get the eliminator from btw?

He has a new turbo coming mate, the GT28RS!!

Well done buddy... always a good thing to rely on...FATE!!

Wait till something breaks and THEN uprate it... tis what I do :)

My old Leon Cupra had cracks very similar to yours, also the exhaust manifold had cracked. From what I could gather it is very common.

Regarding the fmics, remember one thing, bill was using a tiny std ic on his ibiza when he had it ihi'd, I would bet it heatsoaked like hell but the forge leon fmic is ten times the cooler so I really wouldnt have any issues with running 300-330 with it keeping in mind std pistons etc so unless you wanted to change everything out for top drawer internals while going for all out gt28rs max bhp, bottle necks in the fmic wont be an issue.

My k04 did too, exactly the same in fact, showing on the wastegate face.

Probably very common but unreported as only a small minority fiddle about with changing turbos.
