my mate says i should take my car to a diagnostics garage?haven't a clue what goes on here, can anyone enlighten me?and also can you get just an engine service?

I assume he meant to get your car scanned for any errors - which you can do with VAG COM and a cable - are you having problems with your car you need a diagnostic check/service?

well i just bought the car and jus want to check it out really does it cost alot?and can you get just an engine service and what does this include?

unless you know what you want to look for specifically, then a garage will simply hook their computer up to your car, scan for TDCs (trouble diagnostic codes or 'fault codes) and then charge you anything around 40quid regardless.

dont bother. if the check engine light appears on your dash then you need it done, however much better to acquire friends with vagcom equipment or if you have a laptop, get it yourself.
