Where To Start?

Hi guys,

Now i'm thinking about tuning my engine a little as i now have the bodywork on my car up to scratch, i was wondering where i should start on the engine etc.?

My first mod that i have added is a K&N induction kit and to be honest i'm really not sure what to do next so i thought i'd ask you guys ?

yep its very true, there is no point trying to tune a 1.4 as any money put in gives minimal if any gains

best of saving your cash for a more tunable car such as a gti mk2 or do what jenk has done and i am doing and get a mk4 tdi fr/sport 130 ibiza

I also have to agree. KnN filter, a cat back exhaust system for that extra 2bhp, and then its time to start saving up for a GTI.

If you want to keep the K&N I would either heat shield it off from the engine or, run it down to the back of the headlight so its away from engine heat and give it a good bit of cold air.

Do a search for 'SPT' aka "**** Pipe Technology" for a b&q way of what I mean!

Have to say my 1.4 is fun to drive. Since i had it lowered it handles much better and since i got the whole pedal box issue sorted it is so much fun to drive.

Could do with something to improve the handling alittle more!?

Maybe, but without them the back actually feels alright for some reason

Was thinking of maybe getting a front strut brace.

Mot due this week tho so any improvements will have to wait!!

Hopefully the car gets through with no problems!?

yeah fingers crossed!! 3 days before my MOT my gearbox gave in so that was the money for my coilovers down the drain!

If you want to make it handle better and more fun to drive then you can I'd recommend these things:

Front and rear strutbraces
Anti-roll bars
Good sticky tyres
rear spacers
Strip out the rear
uprate the pads and discs

Just depends on how much you want it to handle like a go kart

LOL, yeah i've already fitted the induction kit in just like you said, pain in the arse the mk2 is for easy places to find cold air!

lol, have to say i like the facelift mk4 a lot

but the mk2 has aged very well looks wise and sometimes i see the reflection of may car when driving and still wonder why i am getting rid
