Do bear in mind that a cat back exhaust will offer absolutely nothing in terms of performance. The standard exhaust is good for a lot more power than you'll be running with, so I'd drop that right down the list. The only reason to buy a cat back exhaust is for cosmetics.... i.e. the look and sound. And since the LCR already has a good looking exhaust, you're buying a sound.

Spending the money on anti roll bars, a dogbone mount and a short shifter will make much, much more of a positive difference than a cat back exhaust.

The ARB's will help keep your car on the road and will help make the most of the power you have.
The dogbone will reduce wheelspin and wheelhop when you plant it in lower gears.
The short shifter will give a very nice, positive gear change and will help you rattle through the gears quicker.

A cat back exhaust will make your car sound a bit deeper and louder. That's it.

When i bought my leon it already had a different exhaust on it and it doesn't look good so i've bought this one to make it look better!

would i be correct in saying that a down pipe would give the best power increase for that sort of price £250-£300. ALSO does a good air filter/induction system make any difference? i know different cars respond to different upgrades in different ways. what does the LCR respond well to?

On it's own it will give an 'OK' power increase. But you'll still have the cat that is just as restrictive to deal with. Plus I think you might find the downpipe will cost more than that budget.

I'd stress again that making the most of the power you have will be more beneficial than increasing power. Headline BHP figures are all well and good for pub talk and bragging rights, but if your car can't handle the power, makes you slow down for corners and has much weaker areas than power (which is a big strong point of the LCR already) then overall you'll not be much faster than you were before.

In a straight line you'll be laughing.... but during normal driving, including corners, an LCR with ARB's and other such mods but standard power will be every bit as fast, if not faster, than an LCR with more power.

i love it when i read threads with people posting questions like this..the basics of modding..because it makes me feel less stupid because i too am a complete novice to the modding scene and this thread has answered a few questions that i myself thought i would get flamed for asking :D

although i say im a complete novice..i got the fabia wiper sorted straight away ;)

Look at the various sponsored forum sections on this website as most things can be had through those guys :)

got to learn some where

im learning too! altho i still havent decided what to do next, lots of things to choose from.

ok i'm starting to make up my mind now just got a few question. I've read a lot of people saying the have de-cated their exhaust, whats needed for this and whats the gain? plus what does a full set of forge hoses do?
this is what I'm heading for at the moment i think,
dogbone mount
short shifter
??
i think ARB will have to wait till next year. what gets me is there is so much on exhausts some people say its fantastic some say its pointless, i like the look and quietness of the standard exhaust so thats not important to me, first i want power then handling, i don't drive fast round corners or go rally driving lol, so thats why its not too important, i want to focus on one thing at a time.
so please bear with me lol, slowly but surely I'm getting there, thanks for everyones help, !!
