Hi guys have noticed just recently when i fill up the girlfriends ibiza that the petrol gauge only goes up to 3/4 full, is this s a common problem, as it seems to go straight down from there to as thou its not actually full?

Does anyone know if there is a reason for this, its a cupra sport and i know they were on a weight saving thing did they limit the fuel tank or fit a smaller one?

Mine goes up to full when its full to the brim and stays full for the first hundred miles! Your thinking "This car isn't bad on fuel!"

But, after a 100 miles, you can start to see the needle drop everytime you touch the throttle!

Im lucky if i get 260miles to a tank.

Took the words right out of my mouth!

Driving it home from Durham the needle didn't move till south of Birmingham then went down to just over a qtr by the time I got back to Essex.

Did get 255.3 miles out of less than 3/4's of a tank though so was quite chuffed!

lesson:
Dont fill it up to the brim.

I can get 90 miles out a tenner if i just fire £10 in. maybe in not the biggest spirited driver though

Sorry not sure how to quote both

Spot on David, if I'm not going long distance then I'll never fill it up, not only does a load of it evaporate your adding unessasary weight to the car!

I can't get 90 to a £10 maybe 80 at a push but I don't drive like my Dad!

I only have a 1.4 but i have to agree with that. Its stays at full when it is full for a while then it just drops.

When my 1.4 gets down to just above half a tank the needle stays there for a while, like roughly 100 miles, then it decides to drop again!
