There's no way a TDI FR will go to 190bhp on just a remap. The Cupra TDI will remap to about 190, but the FR will remap to around 175. You can take it further, but only by replacing some hardware.

I've been told by my remapper that I could get nearly 200 bhp with just a remap. He's got an Ibiza diesel with 194bhp just on remap. The only thing that is stopping me from getting that is the clutch with the torgue. So sticking to 180ish for when i get mine done. And mines a 130 diesel...so it can be done just on remap.

That's exactly what dmjw01 said -

you can go higher but you'll need to replace hardware - ie. the clutch

I would have to agreee with this. The quality on the new corsa has been upped tremeoundously. However look at the price tag of the Corsa. There are dealerships trying/succesfully flogging 1.4 corsa's for 13-14 grand :wtf:

Seems like there are enough fools to buy it though.

I have found out some more stuff about the next gen ibiza/polo.

From the words of my source:

"Next Polo/Ibiza/A1 and new Fabia will run on a highly updated version of VWs current Polo platform PQ24 "

Anyone else not like the shape of the front on the concept in that picture?
It looks like an altea steep bonnet angle which leads into the windscreen which is the same angle.
A bonnet should be more horizontal than that.

Infact it reminds me of the current Mitsu Colt and I think its horrible.

I think it's to do with the laws about the gap between the bonnet and the engine

that's why you see a lot of cars this shape or the shape of the Volvo and new focus where the wings have like a step in them and the bonnet is placed higher up to give a good gap for when you hit a pedestrian

I think it will look quite good when they put MK5 Bezza cupra alloys on it, lower it about 15-20mm and put a Cupra bodykit and seats in it, however the standard models of cars always don't quite look good enough unless your buying an Aston Martin/Ferrari

sorry to bring this back to life, just found it. I bought a VXR last week and I am loving it, it handles amazing and is quick, can keep up with standard Leon Cupra R's (would have been more than proved at crail if i had the car for longer than 2 days, can show people the 1/4 mile results if they like).

As for remaps there is companies offering a stage 2 remap with milltek exhaust which will give an extra 45 bhp and 55Nm of torque which will take it to 237bhp, not bad (stage 1 will take it to 222, with just a remap at £450ish). I havent looked into it too much though (not really interested at the moment) but i read somewhere that there is a tuning company who have one running at 375 bhp with new turbo etc.

They are good fun and look nice (imo), i think people just dont give it a chance because it is a "corsa". Was at a meet with a lot of seat guys in pitlochry yesterday and not one person had a bad comment to make about it, they were all very impressed. Songman actually commented that if he was going to buy a small car it would be the VXR ;)

I agree with the quickness of the corsa vxr.. I personally (imo) dont like the shape, the same with the new ibiza due out. The whole pedestrian safety thing makes it look horrid. The new ibiza seems to have the corsa shape too slightly.

But hey, if its wot people like then i dont knock it....like they say, every one to their own!;)

Have you run it down the 1/4 strip then matey? Whats the in gear power like? Am I right in assuming the 'go faster' button just increase's torque for 5 seconds? I'd hope it does keep up with a standard LCR around a track tbh, as a standard LCR is running a mere 30bhp, will weight alot, lot more and is running a platform that is nevermind dated at best next to current platforms in the market, but from what I've heard was never the best of the best on the handling front for a hot hatch.

One more question if you dont mind answering, how much did you pay for it? Much discount been giving out on the top of the range Corsa with it being so new?

Yeah i raced a Cupra R (BCM) down the strip (my car had only done 300 miles, i know i shouldnt have done it!). Think he was something like 15.3/4 to my 15.6 for that run but his reaction speed was 0.4 to my 0.8, once i get used to my car i should be able to improve my reactions. Just assuming on that run i got a reaction time of 0.4, id have posted a time of 15.2. I am sure i will be able to hit 15 dead (hopefully lower) once i get used to the car and it breaks in, and i remember to turn the tcs off!!

There isnt a button as such, just when you floor it there is an overboost for 5 seconds, gives it a kick like a diesel (maybe not quite as much) from a lower rev range but also can rev to 6.5k revs like other petrol cars, its good fun, get the bost of both world so to speak.

I havent been in an LCR but im sure the corsa would beat it round a track because of weight etc and the handling is amazing, i went 45/50 round a roundabout to test it and it just stuck to the road, could have went more but i am not used to its limits yet having driven a diesel cordoba for 2.5 years.

The car was 15.5k with the 18inch alloys. I got 8% off it because my dad used to work for the post office (anyone can do this with the civil service, car salesmen just choose not to tell you) and my mum and dad had 800 GM points which amounted to £800, i put a £3900 deposit down (selling my cordy) so in the end i got it for a good bit under 10k with 1 years free road tax etc etc, i was delighted. At the moment they are so hard to get a hold of that pre-registered cars are basically the exact same price as brand new ones. I couldnt find anyone selling a corsa vxr for under £14995 (and thats without the 18" alloys). apparently if you want a brand new one you will now be waiting until jan/feb to get it, i got mine in 3 days ;)

Cheers for the reply matey, which 1/4 strip id you fly down? 15seconds dead for a standard little car is very fast indeed! If it can keep that speed going round a corner, it will be a awesome track day weapon! I could never own one, as I love my Ibiza far too much, and the only thing I can see me doing is getting a bigger car in the future, which rules out the Corsa. Shame really, as it does look like a little pocket rocket :) Overboost function does seem like a good idea, like a mini remap for 5 seconds when you need it by the sounds of it :p

Seems like a fair price now a days for the size of car, and class/trim level. The Ibiza Cupra is that money, on a dated platform with less power....

Im hoping to get to a few more track days over the next year or so, I hope to come up against one :)
