I had a 2.2 TDCi Mondeo ST as a company car until I bought the Cupra. The ST Mondeo was sooooooooooo slow, and fuel return was pants at an average of 32 MPG. I didn't pay for the fuel in it tho, so really didn't care! The interior and handling was very nice tho :) It also looked nice in the right light!

I've got the same engine in mine and get 50-56mpg on a 25 mile run into work which (apart from 5 miles or so) is a 60 mins stop/start journey pretty much all the way. Coming home it's all up hill and it drops to 47mpg-ish - but it can be hugely affected by how much I put my foot down!
MPG overall has improved since new (now 1nearly 0,000 miles). Easily get 65-68mpg on a good motorway run

so by my calculations, (56mpg down hill once you've arrived at work then 47mpg up hill once you've got home), I reckon that up hill drive on the way home must have bean aprox 34mpg to bring the average down that much

I thought these dervs were super pooper on the mpg ?? :p

the trip back from swindon i did make avg 60.1 that was with hardly no boost what so ever followed loads of cars and my passenger felt sick so i wasnt gonna overtake every1..... cant wait to get my Fr tomorrow!!

Nope! as someone has already said, the trip computer resets so the MPG is per trip. Might be a girl but I'm not that thick! ;) There are 2 trip computers - 1) gives you the data for that trip 2) gives you the data since last reset. press the button underneath the stalk to switch between the two, or press & hold to completely reset.

I didn't know it resets after 2 hrs :) but I do now

the other stuff I did know, thanks

edit
I didn't know you were a girl either

no worries! Thought the name would give it away (Topsy & Tim books from the 70's - I must be old!!) Was said tongue in cheek though! Hope your mpg picks up and you enjoy your wheels :)

My FR TDI gave about 40-45 for the first 5 or 6k then 45-50's up till about 12k. This was with the same driving style- mix of conservative and ragging it a bit, motorway and urban.

After 12k it was easy to get 50-55 mpg and rarely dropped below 45, however, after about 14k till now (15.5K) this has significantly dropped and i find it hard to get above 51/52 mpg.

Is there some sort of problem? It was serviced after 6 months at 9K for basic oil change. It is now 12months and 15.5K, could it need another service?

Hi, don't want to hijack this thread but i am really worried now.
My fuel warning light came on today when i had only done 290 miles on the tank. It normally doesn't come on until around 320 or so. This seems a big difference considering I have not been driving any differently to normal and have been doing the same journeys i always do. Should i be worried?

Thanks
