Widening the Track + 5 stud

How hard would it be to change to 1m leon axles front and back? I know it will be complicated, but i need to extend the track width and thought "hey, why not convert to 5 stud at the same time?"

I assume i will need custom driveshafts? The wheel hub will need to be extended maybe? Any help would be appreichiated.

But Passat front end like RobT has done would be a starting point, but I'm not sure about the rears to make them wider

Is a MK3 Golf wider at the back? the ibiza being of polo width?

it is... but the top mounts don't move out on the Ibiza.

But the wheels will still mangle the wheel arch

wider does'nt mean 5x100 neccessarily..
mix and match of parts can yield the 20+mm wider per side.. and if using the right bits also achieve improved geometry


What are you trying to achieve in reality? just wider? arches?

Thanks for your responce. I would like to extend the track width to that of which the Evo 2 ibiza's have. And yes i know it would fit with standard arches! You would make me very happy if you had any more information on this.
The only reason i was thinking of going to 5 stud was because there are more options for more powerful brakes.

to space the back out. could'nt you get an engineering firm to make up a space to go in between the the rear axle and rear beam. get the holes drilled and tapped and bolt on. or ever weld them on. just an idea not sure how wide your going

if you're wanting F2 track width think you forgot to put the 'nt after would.
theres a reason why they had wide arches

How different is the Leon to the Ibiza? If its any help i just finished fitting vr6 control arms an sway bar on my mk2 Ibiza. Also i went 5 stud vr6 hubs. Looks horn at the front because it fills the bulgey guards. I recommend you fit a rear sway bar if you widen the front.
