Right i've done the usual search but not found any one with simular issue to cd changer. Only started happening on thursday but for some reason the cd changer doesn't hold its memory for instance you change the radio to 'band' then flick back to 'CD' then it starts from track 1 disc 1 not the track or disc i was listening to. Checked cables and seem to be all ok!!!!!

Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers

Some of you may find this interesting! This morning when off to work opened the car door and smoke pilled out from inside absolutely sh1t myself. The head unit lcd display was all lit up. So popped my bonnet and disconnected the battery. Then went to look in the boot and the smoke was coming from behind the CD changer. pulled back the carpet from the side of boot wall were the interface sits (it links head unit to cd changer) and it was on fire! Got a few pics but not sure how to host them. Anyway cars ok seems like i found it at just the right time. But since disconnenting the battery and resetting my ECU car is now only boosting to 13/14 psi but thats another story!

Just to let you know mate that SEAT wouldnt be interested anyway as that box is an aftermarket part. Might be worth getting in contact with MES

I've emailed MES with pics so hopefully they'll get in touch. The damaged has also melted one of the three 30A fuses ontop of the battery in the little black box! the one on the far right hand side. 30A seems way to high also so i'll ask MES what they advise for current protection.

I would actually say this is a complete coincidence (the fuse) that sounds like your water pump fuse and is completely unrelated and very common to go.

strange you should mention water pump because when i lifted the bonnet to disconnect the battery the water pump was running? and the car had been parked for 12 hours! and melted the fuse box also? just seems strange when the car has been running spot on with no problems at all.

removed fuse and yes it stopped since replaced the fuse and all seems to be working. because when i parked up for work i waited in the car after turning it off to hear if the pump stopped and it did about 5-10 mins.
