hi all new here!, pick up my 07 fr tdi on monday, but got a quick question, is the diesel dumpvalve a recirc valve?

cheers :p

Welcome to SCN. As far as I know the only dump valve to fit the diesels is made by forge, which is eletronically controlled. Petrol and diesel cars are different. Im sure someone will be able to explain this in more detail.

don't think you will find one fitted as standard as there is not a butterfly on the inlet to allow it to work

that is my understanding anyway

Welcome :)

I assume from the smiley in the original post, the question was a joke....

...if not, do a search for "tdi dump valve" on here ;)

why would my question be a joke??

i know i wont find a recirc valve as standard, im wondering if the standard unit is a recirc as i plan to change it at somepoint

TDis do not have dump valves as they are quality of charge not quantity controlled. (They will take as much air in at any revs as your turbo puts out).

As depresion said. The diesels don't have a dump valve at all. Forge have made a dump valve that runs electronically. Sounds like a real dumpvalve (because it is) but is electronically activated and it does absolutely NOTHING. So it's pointless. Just make the noise yourself everytime you let off the throttle. Then you can stop when it gets annoying.

Sorry I thought you realised :)

Do a search for TDI dump valves on here and look at the public ridicule people generally face when they express an interest in fitting one....
