Yeah its gonna be have an R32 engine, 4wd and a flux capacitor!!

When this baby hits 88mph, you are gonna see some serious sh!t!

got your facts slightly mixed up
it is true there is guna be a ltd edition leon FR TDI called 550 not the cupra
yes special seats intergrated head rests (probably cupra ones)
yes 18 wheels
yes under £19000

That certainly makes sense, and covers the diesel market with a Cupra-like stop gap. But is just more evidence of SEAT diluting its performance brand. Confuses the customers in my opinion.

Hmmm i wasn't in the market for a new motor .... wonder what SEAT would offer me for mine ......

Just thinking Z, why would it be seen as confusing - especially if SEAT are getting involved in racing diesels, surely it's more reinforcement than anything else? I think it's fair to say that amongst diesel owners, there's as much brand loyalty towards diesel engined SEATS as there is amongst the petrol owners? To not cater for those would mean a potential loss of customers, never mind the other well discussed pros of diesel ownership?

Sounds Interesting, mind you I wonder how 'limited' this edition might actually be, anyone got a feel for that.

Perhaps it will be here for a few minutes and then gone / superceded by something else - perhaps one with DSG? (pure bs / speculation!)

For my own money, i'd like to see a Cupra Diesel with the only difference between petrol and diesel specifcation being the choice of engine.

They would have to use a diesel engine with similar performance to the Petrol engine to warrant that badge in my opinion. The 170PD is just not in the same league performance wise as the Cupra.

Maybe, maybe not, there are a lot of people who would like Cupra in everything except the engine. I can see a market for a warranted SEAT approved remapped car ( preferably without a DPF!!!) that would be lower on BHP but more than comparable on torque which is why we like diesels :)

Lets be honest, it's not a lack of engine choice from the VAG fold that they're short on and there's a definite market for it. Hell stick a 3.0 Tdi in there, that'd make for a cracking car.

Id hope it would be less than £19k given the FR is under £18k & if the differences are only 18 inch wheels, say £300 and slightly better (subjective judgement of course!) seats - I wouldn't personally put too much of a premium on these.

Have you heard anything on the grapevine Irfan?

as an FR optional extra 'wheel' is £350, I'd allow £800 for the 'RS4' type seats bearing in mind the recaro cost on the Mk1 (and the RS4 option on the S3)

Maybe they'll stick the bodykit on it.... but it needs something more to stand out IMO.

I can't work out where the 550 comes from? Because I doubt it's the tank range on the PD170!

There are a couple of WTCC special edition FR's on the French forum leon2passion. Only change i could see is a plaque saying 1 of 250 etc. Might not be anything like the ''550''.

Presume 550 will be the number done, or the bhp level a non-DPF FR could hit with a panel filter ;)
